Re: Bark River Knives
... I definitely feel like the BRKs shine in larger knives, where you can really put them to work. The Bravo 1.25 LT is my favorite camp knife, but you can't go wrong with anything from the Bravo, Bushcrafter, or Aurora family. That convex grind is next level. Agreed. Friend of mine let me use a bu...

Re: Knife cargo shorts
Though the prices can be a little high shorts made specifically for hiking work well for me with carrying a knife. Fjallraven makes a couple of pairs with a nice internal pocket a clipped knife nestles quite well in.

Re: Interest in Shaman Maxamet sprint run.
Hmm. Perhaps hitting into the “you should just be using a fixed blade” territory, but the lowered toughness of maxamet in a shaman might be a minus. Granted I’d likely snap one up if they made it.

St nicks exclusive Millie. Got lucky on the drop, though my wallet may not agree, since it’s closely following a BBB PM2.

Re: 2023 Official Discontinued List
Well, I suppose I was lucky in finding a cqi siren. The original design may have been closer to a folding filet knife, but I’ve found it very useful in a few situations, and the lc200n steel is a good balance of you ask me.

Re: The Delica Wharncliffe is the greatest work knife ever made.
The lc200n warncliffe delica is my absolute go to for gardening and yard related cutting. Can’t misplace it, good solid tip and edge. A little work on a fine grit stone before and it’ll do every reasonable (and some even less than reasonable) task.

Rivers Edge Cutlery as my Friendly Local Knife Store. A few years back I broke my Buck 112, and needed something new. Walked in, spoke a bit with the staff. They knew exactly how I broke my Buck, and without judgment (other than “that’s why we don’t do that gentle ribbing) took the time to let me co...

Re: It's a lonely pursuit...
It is a little lonely. Other than online I have one friend who shares an interest in knives. It’s nice, but the wives almost audibly roll their eyes as we debate the pros and cons of modern verses traditional knives. The extended family only really understands “Chris always has a knife, and it’s alw...

Unintended usage?
“A knife is a tool with a thousand uses” A wise man once said. While knife makers design with a general philosophy in mind, sometimes necessity is the mother of invention. Case in point- I was gifted a blacked out yojumbo. Generally this is thought of as a self defense oriented knife, but in random ...

No scale to reference, however the comparison is apt. Only knife (folder) I’ve got that compares is the subvert.

Differing tabs on compression locks.
There’s been a bit of discussion on comp lock knives, and the kick or nub of some models being undesirable or less than ergonomic. I’m curious others thoughts on the lock tab itself. Having tried a few different models, I’ve found the tab on the shaman to be the best, the scalloping on that seems ea...

Re: BHQ Exclusive PM2 - DLC REX45/Copper
I love Rex 45, and the PM2 is an awesome platform, pulled the trigger on this. A little hard to imagine the weight until it’s in the hand. Quite the shiny look tank.

Short of a couple I ordered as trade sweetener, all my knives get a new edge when needed. Trying new steels is a joy, even if it’s particular characteristics aren’t your cup of tea.

Re: What’s your best made Spydie?
For me that would be the Subvert. While perhaps not the most “EDC friendly” knife, everything is amazing and clean. The G10 Slabs are textured and melted on the corners. Every screw and interface is bank vault tight. My only complaint may be design specific, but the detent is light for the size of t...

Re: How long have you been carrying knives, and how have your needs changed?
Since about 8 or 9. Began with Camillus Cub Scout. On and off various traditionals for my teens and early 20s. Then my fixed blade camp knife broke.... Went to my local friendly knife store... Got introduced to Esee and Spyderco. The rest is shelf filling history. As for my needs? Mostly keep to med...
