Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Constitution day https://i.postimg.cc/hGyrwP9N/P5170010.jpg Yesterday there was a birthday in the household, and the nice weather stuck around so I repeated my festive constitution day carry. I do give the HH Urban a lot of heat for its unnecessarily short blade, and carry it much less than I'd pre...

Re: Your favorite color combination?

While admittedly blad coatings can create interesting visuals, I don't like to have my blades coated, so color preference is mainly about handle color for me. And though I'm not picky, and enjoy a range of colors, I mostly gravitate to neutral colors, both because I like them and they genrally blend...

Re: Stok

It seem small fixed blades are becoming quite popular, and as such there is an subsequent boom in supply. I have an affinity for small fixed blades (and small knives in general), so I'm happy about this development, and there are so, so many interesting designs showing up, I can't even keep up. But ...

Re: Show your Bugs and Critters

Here’s a feel good story for ya…so I was working on a customer’s garden and saw this rather large King snake caught in some bird netting that had been set up by them to keep rabbits out…I have no clue how long the poor thing had been there but she allowed me to slowly and methodically cut her loose...

Re: Serrated Edge for Hunting?

I have tried serrated or part serrated edges a few times on a filet knife and a little bit on knives used for hunting (Spyderco Impala, SOG, Browning). I prefer a fine edge for the reasons identified in some of the posts above, it seems to offer more control and predictability. Presumably, this rel...

Re: Spyderco Groom carry suggestions

Congratulations and best wishes on your wedding! I don’t usually carry a knife in dressy situations, and I try to avoid dressy situations altogether, so there isn’t really a knife in my collection suited for that type of use. So if it were me trying to use such circumstances to justify a new knife, ...

It will probably happen eventually. Sal just needs some time to work his way down your wishlist.
Chap SE and Chief LW are checked off, so maybe the M2 SE is next 😄

Re: Nutritious safe low carb snacks?

If you have an air fryer, you could air fry your own chickpeas. That way you'll know exactly what you're getting. I don't have an air fryer, and I don't really care much for snacks, but my mother in law loves to air fry chickpeas to use for snack. It's a decent snack. It's dry stuff though, so you w...

Re: Is There A Place For The "Rambo" Knife

To be honest I don't see the point of a big and heavy knife. I don't doubt there are legit use cases, and that there are those who make good use of such knives, but for most people I doubt there are many scenarios where a big do-it-all knife is the best solution. Back in my teens when I started hunt...

Re: Benchmade Water Series (salt series?)

I like that BM offers knives with short, neutral handles. The small Adira could be rather perfect for my hand. The Manix-like sharp radius on the finger guard, grippy handle material and a rear hook should allow for a very comfortable and secure grip. But I'm not sure another crossbar lock knife wil...

Re: Is Spyderco missing out on the fixed blade market?

Spyderco Junction is one of my favourite fixed blades. Pack it every holiday and work trip in my check in back. Spyderco has had some great fixed blades over the years. Problem is they always end up discontinued. Probably due to sales. https://files.catbox.moe/dqfov4.jpeg Just by assessing pictures...

Re: Partially Serrated CombinationEdge FRN Police Please? Anyone Else Want One??

I’ve been able to hold off on getting a Police for the longest time, but if Spyderco were to bring about a FFG CE Police LW, that could be the nail in the coffin for my abstinence. It’s highly unlikely we’ll see a Police Salt, at least in the short term, but if they could bring out a CE LW that is o...

Re: Victorinox going bladeless

As far as I can tell, the Jetsetter is a Rambler without the knife layer, so it loses the file/flat head as well. It’s hard not to like the Rambler, in my opinion it’s the obvious choice over a Classic, but hardly gets anywhere near the same attention. But even with the knife blade in place, this is...

Re: Victorinox going bladeless

I read an equally poorly written news article about this on the train this morning. With such bad journalism as we have today, it's hard to really know what's the real story behind what you just read, but my interpretation of it was similar to Rusty's. It makes sense to add bladeless options (to the...

That was a positive review indeed.
And it did make me want to carry my Urban again, so it did at least help a little bit.
Maybe I'll chime in again after a day or two of carry :)

Re: Generational Classifications: Do You Identify?

Born in 1965, to technically Gen X. Got to be a kid in the seventies and eighties and it was awesome! Stayed outside from sun up to sun down, learned to build and fix things, then break them and fix them again! I was turned loose with both a chainsaw and a Marlin .22 lever rifle at the age of 12, a...

Re: Generational Classifications: Do You Identify?

I guess I'm gen X, but I seem to only get along with people who are 45 years of age or older, so no, I don't seem to fit into the stereotype of my generation. Gen X is approx. 44+, so that sounds quite right. I never think of generational stereotypes in my own relations. There are people who impres...

Re: My first SLIPIT experience / Spyderco Urban

yup, let's hope it reappears. The Urban is a weird one. Perfect ergonomics in the handle (for my hand), but compared to other alternatives it's a bit chubby in pocket for the amount of blade I get, so it hardly ever gets carried. I have the later version with the shortened blade, unfortunately. But ...
