Re: The Lil' Temperance 3 Lightweight: A comprehensive review

Man, the last post about the K390 version has me itching to buy one. Do I need it? No, but I kinda want it. Why can't I be happy with what I already have?

Re: Positive improvements in marketing, social media and other things that I’ve seen recently

I too have gotten off social media so I welcome any info from there ending up in here. However, we are a dying breed. The new customers are out there and not in here. I doubt we will get preferential treatment (i.e., posts first come here). That said, you should be able to write a script that would ...

Re: XL knives to look forward to

Meanwhile I bought a Delica 4 on everyones recommendation and disliked it enough to nearly write off the brand. The S60V single liner Military that I bought for my second Spyderco, however, sold me on the brand. There's no accounting for taste; we like what we like. I get the feeling that large-kni...

Re: XL knives to look forward to

i think it's the fault of legislation. laws are too restrictive. Sometimes. I first got a Military from Knife Works in their really cool exclusive configuration. But it felt so **** big. Yes it was in violation of local laws, but I bought it anyways because I wanted a nice knife. The law said I cou...

Re: Phosphor Bronze washers: Theory and Innovation?

Your are, of course, correct, Patrick. My question was meant to alert the unaware that some Spydies are silky smooth without washers, even PB ones. Haha, oops. I don't get it myself. I took apart the Ayoob and just kinda stared at it. You watch enough YouTube videos and the Ayoob seems to defy &quo...

I have no complaints with PB washers.

But why is Moki-made action so s-m-o-o-t-h?
In the Ayoob sprint, there are no washers. There is a raised portion on the liners that come in contact with the blade. Still can’t tell you why it’s so smooth, but that has to be part of the reason.

Is there a correlation between the stepped pivot (like in the PM2) and the two screws?

FWI:

Moki is located in Seki.

The other Seki-based manufacturer of Spyderco knives is G. Sakai (Gerber-Sakai), which uses the "Seki-City Japan" stamp.

I didn't know that. Thanks!

Re: So, Sal, is the Caly3 model doomed ?!

Who produces the Caly line? Is it Seki or Moki? I want to say it is Moki, which is getting back on its feet at the moment. However, isn't the Caly LW going to Seki? If I'm wrong, could somebody correct me? UPDATE - several people have mentioned that there has been no news of the Caly LW moving to a ...

Re: Thoughts on s90v

In my opinion S90V is amazing but it has slowly fallen off the podium because some newer fancier steels has come around... I don't disagree, but the steels that best S90V in edge retention happen to be tool steels. We are extrapolating the opinions of those for whom a tool steel works just fine as ...

I know this is a fairly unpopular opinion, but I like the feel of Teflon washers. The Phoenix reissue is such a smooth knife.

Re: What’s on your current short list?

Thank you for your reply. What I meant about the PM2 is that I don't want to buy the crucarta PM2 because I already have one in Maxamet. There are not many cruwear knives on the market these days. There is the Adamas, with a too thick blade and too tactical style, there is the PM2, which I don't re...

Re: What’s on your current short list?

With the decrease I was thinking of the Swayback, if anyone has any feedback on it. I'd suggest finding one in a local store and seeing how it fits your hand. It is an absolutely beautiful knife, but it did not fit my hand. The point in the back dug a bit into my palm. The access to the Spydie hole...

Re: Native 5 or Delica 4

I am a big Delica fan. Small but capable knife with nice geometry, and there are some interesting options for steel. That said, the Native LW is an interesting model. The ease in which you can take apart the knife is refreshing. I've stopped taking my knives apart with any frequency. But when the ti...

that looks like it smells good. i use frog lube paste. i have two little tubs of it and they will likely be used by my grandkids' grandkids with how little it takes to coat a blade and how infrequently i need to.
