Re: Return of Temperance 2 (sort of)

Maybe something classic and proven like O1, 52100, 1095, something that would take a nice patina over time. PD1/Cru-Wear would be cool too, but price would be higher. For stainless, AEB-L is very tough and it will be my choice. I agree with this. People want super steels or whatever is new and shin...

Re: Custom Red / Crimson Scales Where to Find?

I have heard some people talk of dying their scales without disassembling the knife. I don't think it would hurt anything, but most of them aren't too hard to disassemble.

Re: Bow River and Province Boltaron Sheaths

The price on the Bow River sheath looks good too. I was afraid it would cost more than the knife.

Just yesterday, I was thinking about how I'd like to try a synthetic sheath but all of the knives I like come with leather. Someone at Spyderco was a couple steps ahead of me, apparently.

I'd buy it regardless, but I'd be interested in seeing what this would look like as well.

Re: Return of Temperance 2 (sort of)

A fixed blade like this would be a great opportunity for Spyderco to try out an entry level non-stainless steel. That wouldn't work as well on a folder as most people looking for a low cost folding knife probably want it to be low maintenance. Fixed blade people are a different sort that generally s...

Re: Return of Temperance 2 (sort of)

Has Spyderco made anything with 1095 before? The Bushcraft used O1 but that knife was a little on the pricey side. I'm not sure if it was priced that way because the scales or some other part was expensive or if they had to pay more for the O1 because they bought a small quantity specifically for th...

Re: Return of Temperance 2 (sort of)

This really is what we need. I wouldn't even care which design. Temp 1, Temp 2, Mule or Jumpmaster. They're all useful, iconic models that are easily identified as Spyderco designs.

It certainly wouldn't be for everyone, but I think it would be a big hit for those of us who like big knives.

I don't have anything to add to this. I think you may have just described my perfect knife. Definitely use the powerlock. Usually I'd say no to the DLC but it serves a purpose with the carbon steel.

Manix XXL? Count me in! I actually like the Tatanka, but a Manix in that size would be amazing.

Re: What would folding pocket knives look like if Sal never started Spyderco?

I think we'd be missing out on a lot more than just the features that Sal first incorporated into knife designs. Spyderco knives have popularized other features that weren't necessarily Sal's inventions. We'd probably see a lot fewer Boye dents, for example. Most importantly, a lot of pocket knives ...

Re: What percentage of your Spyderco collection consists of fixed blades?

I'm right at ten percent. I'll be buying at least two more by the end of the year though. Spyderco has a much better lineup of fixed blades now than just a few years ago. I think they need one flagship fixed blade though. Something that would be like the PM2 is to folders.

Re: Spyderco App enhancements

I hope that sprints, exclusives and discontinued models are eventually added. I'd also like to see some kind of comparison tool. It would be nice to be able to compare two models if you're trying to decide which to buy or comparing a model you already own to a new release to get an idea of the size ...
