I was looking at what United Outdoors had to offer and found this:

https://m.ebay.com/itm/Spyderco-Manix-2 ... r=1&_rdt=1

The description and price say it's a Manix 2 maxamet, but the picture is wrong.
Anyone with experience buying from this seller, what do you think?

(I've contacted the seller about it, but in the meantime..)

Yes, I've bought from them several times (including my South Fork,) no issues. They should be good to go.

I have bought knives from them on three different occasions with no problems. I think that you are good.

seller BigFishBuddy has the VG10 Dragonfly 2 in Orange FRN for $49.95...so $39.95 after the coupon. Can't beat that for a Dragonfly. Such a great little knife. That and the Native are my two favorite knife designs. And I can't get either in my steel of choice...Cruwear! :(

Still yet to handle either of those knives, but wouldn't Cruwear be a bit overkill for such a small knife like the Dragonfly?

If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by overkill?

CPM Cruwear isn't the best in any category relevant to folding knife steels, except maybe for impact toughness in certain cases, so I'm unsure of your meaning.

I don't own any Cruwear knives, but I've been under the impression that Cruwear was a steel meant for more hard use tasks, which I don't see people using a Dragonfly for. I'm pretty novice, and definitely not trying to argue with you, as I've seen your posts and your quite knowledgeable. I'm only saying that based on things I've read regarding Cruwear, that's all. I'm here to obtain knowledge!

Thank you for the kind words.

I think you have the right idea about CPM Cruwear, and I mostly agree with you. Cruwear may be better suited to large, hard-use blades than less tough stainless steels and extremely high carbide volume steels are, but some of those less tough steels can do just fine too if users understand the differences and limitations.

I think CPM Cruwear is also great for smaller knives that will be used for carving/whittling, since it (relatively) easily takes a high-sharpness, polished edge if desired.
