Very long, and tough week. Hardest loss of my life. Seeing family I haven't seen in many years, as well as my 95 year old Gram, and being there for her meant the world to me.

RIP to your grandad and may I just say that that is one of the most touching funeral cards that I have ever seen. Condolences man.

Scale of 1-10, where a 10 is a Sebenza and a 1 is this thing, how much does the Sage 2 feel like a Sebenza?

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
So much of this is opinion based. Having owned several of each over the years, I would say 3/10.kennethsime wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 11:09 pmScale of 1-10, where a 10 is a Sebenza and a 1 is this thing, how much does the Sage 2 feel like a Sebenza?
1 for s30v (at the time they both used it)
1 for titanium
1 for the RIL
and that’s where the similarities end IMO. The handle shape is different, the blade grind and shape is different, the clip is different, the opening method is different, the lock bar tension and action is different. It doesn’t feel much like a sebenza and a sebenza doesn’t feel much like a sage 2. That being said, if I were to track one of the 2 down again, id go with a sage 2 because I know myself and I prefer the thumb hole.
I know you didn’t ask me, but thought I’d share
Rick, sorry for your loss bro.

The Lil Matriarch is going on 18 months of daily carry. I gave the Rex45 Chief a break after about the same amount of pocket time.

Definitely appreciate your feedback!
I think I’m especially curious on the action and the lockup. This could probably change a fair amount from model, but my hope is that it’s very solid, like a Sebenza. I should probably go watch some YouTube videos.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I'd bump that up to a 4 due to disassembly/maintenance. Chris Reeve was pretty famous (at one point anyways) for encouraging their users to disassemble their knives. They even included the tools to do so.
I don't know what the Spyderco warranty was at the time of release, but I assume it is not as friendly as it is today. I have yet to come across a Spyderco that is as easy to disassemble as the Sage 2*. You need only a T8 driver, and there are three screws. There are no "tricks" to assembly like I find with Seki FRN. All of the standoffs are d-shaped, and the list goes on.
I haven't owned a Sebenza, but there seems to be a lot of thought regarding the Sage 2 and disassembly/maintenance. The two seem fairly similar in that regard.
* The Native 5 LW looks dead simple too, but I haven't owned one.

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??
I didn't make them, and honestly my old man brain can't remember the forum member who did. He made scales in that gator texture for a few members here in the 2010-2015 Era. I believe he did D4/E4 patterns only. As for the carry, I always prefer a big blade and a small. One SE & one PE. 2 is 1, 1 is none.PeaceInOurTime wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 9:04 am
Great to see you back!
Love those scales on that Lil Matriarch, did you make them?
That's a long stretch for daily carry

Thanks, MG! It’s a very unique blade shape and a really fun one to carry!Manixguy@1994 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 03, 2023 4:18 pmAlways loved the blade . Nice picture too .
