Very Cool!
How hot does the blade get while being "lasered"?
The immediate vicinity of the hole might get slightly warm to the touch, but no more.
Thick steel like 1" would probably be a few hundred degrees, but on thin stuff like this it's almost nothing.

You know, when I saw the first picture my first thought was "I bet there's enough room for a spydiehole there."
Thanks Meat Man! Great mod.
I had the same thought. Absent a 6 Kw laser, adding an opening hole is a tedious project fraught with hazards to the knife, as well as to the craftsman. Thumb studs work, but the Spyderhole is pure poetry in comparison.
Well this thread popped up when I was looking for something else in a search. I ended up selling my voyager to a co-worker because he was looking for a good pocket knife. Looking at those pictures has me tempted to order another.
I've been thinking about it too.
Well I found some new old stock pre-GSM BD1 Voyagers, so I ordered another just like this one I sold to a co-worker.
Carrying an XL version today. Excited to get one of the larges back into the rotation.
Funny how 6 or 7 years ago I got into Cold Steel a little bit, but then stopped following them. Now here I am with a drawer full of their folders kicking myself for not getting some of the stuff that's been discontinued since then.
Interesting note, I paid about the same price for this Voyager as I did for the one in the first post of this thread. Under $60.
Since many core models are now over my $200 limit, like DLC Manix XL's and Military 2's, I've been looking at Cold Steel more. The prices are a lot better. Recon 1's in G10 & S35VN were $50 on sale recently, and easy to find for $80. That's about the same price range as FRN & 8Cr Resiliences. $25 SRK C's compare well to the more expensive Bow River. The $30 SR1 Lite has better action than a lot of $100-200 lockbacks I've used.
