I really like that bed ! Did you make it or aftermarket ? I also had a 1994 4x4 Extended cab before the Tacoma came out . Still my favorite truck, V6 3.0 , 5spd with 5.36 gears , and 31inch tires , all standard . I will look for pics . Thanks Bloke ! Dan
Hi Dan, the bed was a custom jobbie along with the toolbox against the roll bar. The bloke I bought it from was into Go-Karts and had it made 200mm (8”) longer than standard in order to fit his karts. :smlling-eyes

This is the type of toyota my grandfather had. Not an actual pic of it tho. He had a hay spike on the back and I used to love pressing the button on the remote to lower or raise the spike up when i was a little kid.

Grandfather!? Now you are making me feel old. I grew up with Toyota's like that. The cool kids (not me) drove them to school. No hay spikes however, they weren't that cool.

Ha ha ! First thing I drove was my Dad’s twin engine racing go kart . Our subdivision was new and only other house was grandparents a block up . Steets were gravel , hopped in and flew off . Screamed by Grannies house and turned around and let it go full throttle. I caught air cresting hill to our house . Dad and buddy were in street to stop me . Mom ran out saying Grannie was on phone . Dad came back out laughing and asked me to keep speed down by grandmas house I almost gave her a heart attack. From that day on I was hooked on anything fast on wheels . Dan

I love it, Dan. Not too loud and no drone at all. Best part is the million mile warranty- literally a million miles.
Most times I don't even realize it's there - just when I start it up and when I get on it. Regular cruising I don't even hear it. Now, it's not like that when ya first get it - yiu just get used to it.

The good thing about Toyota trucks is that they work. They essentially copied Ford and scaled it down. They made the drive shaft smaller in diameter, and the seats are different, but it is otherwise a Ford. Toyota did the same with the Celica. It was a scaled down 1970 Mustang. Very good trucks.

Looks like a modern version of the old Sunrader campers built on the Toyota truck platform from the 1980s. The 4x4 versions of the Sunrader are really sought after now.

"Tread" magazine has an annual Toyota special edition. The 2022 issue has an article about a fully restored Sunrader, but it doesn't look like the article is online anywhere.

I think due to the color scheme it was an idea to the 80s versions.

And it will sleep 7. Just have to sleep in the passenger and driver seats.

I think mid 80s. You mean to tell me you didn't have shirts as a kid that had these patterns all over it? This is an 86'.
They actually make a sticker or graphic that you can put on your modern Taco that fits this old pattern.

I would camp all week in this.

Ah, hahaha, ah, hahaha, ah, hahaha!

When I was around a second year apprentice about 16 years old. I talked the first year apprentice into going half with me in building a Go-Kart.

We bought a frame and wheels. I can’t remember how but we ended up with a 250cc Honda motor out of an Elsinore motocross bike.

We made engine mounts, chain drive shaft, gear and clutch linkages, modified the expansion chamber to fit, cut down an old garden chair for a seat …

Anyhow, when we were done the thing flew. Another friend that was older had license and vehicle and into dirt bikes would take it out to the sand flats at Kurnell for us and nothing could catch this thing. I dread to think what the top end speed really was. I can’t remember what we did for brakes but I remember it didn’t stop too well. Ah, hahaha!
