You could probably email Sal if you want to take it straight to the man himself, and he could work with you or tell you who to talk to.
If you are up for some constructive criticism, you could post here and we'll let you know our thoughts/input. Seems to be some pretty intelligent people hanging around here that know their knives.

yah, somehow us knifenuts actually know what we're talking about... we buy the final products of our ideas in some cases(ie Salsa).

mmm... Salsa (poor Homer Simpson imitation)
Still waiting for that one. I hope Sal can get it in the works soon
Hi Pbrand. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.
If you are looking to "sell" an idea, you would have to first contact Peter Jhones at Spyderco. He will give you all of the necessary information and directions.
If you want to discuss a possible idea, this is the place, but once described in a "public domain" like the net, patent-ability might be in question.
Tique. I'm carrying the 2nd Salsa proto now. It's looking pretty good.

Sal, glad to hear it.
Hopefully I will get a chance to see one of the proto's in Atlanta.
Was a choice ever made as to what steel will be used in the higher end version, or it that still up in the air?

I think that VG-10 was mentioned for the Ti Salsa, and AUS-8 for the Al Salsa.
BTW, an off-topic question: Any word on when we will be able to post scans in this forum? There are some topics of discussion that await illustration.

Speaking of ideas, I had one a few weeks ago and never posted it. I know that Spyderco hasn't been making that many fixed blade knives, but I think it would be very interesting if Spyderco could make and sell a fixed blade knife with interchangeable handle scales. You could make them in many different colors and materials, perhaps even shapes and textures. I think it would be pretty neat.
What do you guys think?

I like the idea about the fixed blade knife with interchangeable handles i like a lot of change and novelty ,it would be cool to change the knife

VG-10 sounds great for the Ti Salsa.
I wish we could post pics as well. You can always post the address of a pic and then have people go there, seems to work fairly well and it's the best we can do at the minute.
I'm not sure about the fixed blade with interchangeable scales thing. I am not sure how much interest it would generate with the general ELU, and as far as I'm concerned I probably wouldn't buy one. You run into a security factor where the scales might come off when you don't want them to, based upon the fact they are removable. Also, that isn't really a performance issue, it's more asthetic. I rarely carry a fixed blade, when I do it has very securely attached micarta scales and I'm going in the woods. I don't think I will ever wake up and go "I'll carry my blue handled fixed blade this morning, better change it from red," that just doesn't seem to happen. You also run into a cost factor when you add hardware to a knife, and this could get out of hand price-wise and still not move many units.
Hi Spidey. I'm afraid that I have to agree with Tique on the changeable handles. I think it would be a viable suggestion for most knife companies though.
We have not gone the "novelty route very often". Tooling costs would be high. Inventory would also be a difficult thing for Spyderco and it's dealers as well. It would also knock out another model since we have limitations.
I do appreciate the thought though.

The reason I mentioned the interchangeable scale idea is that it seems that every fifth post or so is someone asking for a Native with some other handle material or color. I guess "knife knuts" aren't the "general ELU".
I can see where it could cause inventory and other problems also.
Oh well, just thought I'd mention it...

Hi´all
This is a q. from a knifefreak that don´t know anything about the net, or allmost anything anyways. How do I start up a new topic, all i seem to be able to do is join in and that sucks when I have a q. for all of you..HELP!
It´s tough enough to be living in a country that just made onehandopening illegal, I don´t need this problem as well.

Hi Voxnaes. On the forum menu, near the top, it says POST NEW TOPIC. Put your pointer on that and click.
