This is the best image ( but NOT price ) of

the Master "Cyborg" I got from Cheaper Than

Dirt.com on a 3-for-$15 sale ; after the spacer(?) that seperates the two parts of the handle ( as on the old Viele ) broke

as I sat and my sweatpants pocket shifted

and some of my 220lbs just pressed for a moment on it ( the "finish", as in paint )

also chipped. I did manage a little repair

work and regulated it to a "giveaway".

I'm glad I didn't pay Knifezilla's price!

( talk about gouging! ) Even more upsetting

is THIS one :

More reasonable at $9.00(U.S.) but WHAT a

blatant CHICOM rip-off!

Better to spend the $30 more with eknifeworks/SMKW & get quality.

What say the augurers?

Allen, I have bought a few of those cheapies. I think they have there place. I bought a Roy Rogers trick knife, cheap Lagioule, couple of others. Think Mora...they are cheap but have outstanding quality. Picked one up for ten bucks. Depends on what you expect when you buy it. It sure won't hold up like a Spydie but if you lose it who cares. Take Care!!!

I have used some $5 POS knives when cutting bait on a fishing pier. I hate to lose knives, even inexpensive Victorinox or Spyderco knives so I use the POS in case the knife falls in the saltwater and is lost. They work fine for this use and are easy to sharpen with a file.

Other than this use, I have no place for Chinese crap.

Hi Al! Greetings from the Far East! "throw-away" knives as they call it, is a "cheap" alternative for handouts if you explore obscure villages in the jungles of Peninsular Malaysia, Indonesia and Borneo. They make great "gifts" or "exchanges" to tribal chiefs. The knives are so "sacred", it is kept in a family altar as a reminder of visits from the "outside" world... A friend of mine, who a forester actually packs some cheap knives with him on his trips to the woods.. Said that the aboriginies and tribes people do not know how to appreciate fine blades which I totally agree.. Well, after 15 visits, he decided that a Gerber "easy out" was the timely replacement for the worn out folder which he had given to the same man more than seven years ago! What a tale! Well, I was in Borneo a couple of years back.. Brought the Millie in a neck sheath and a drop-point Moran. The tribesman were impressed and demanded a trade. I persuaded them with a couple of Swiss Army knives and keep the level of tension down.. Saved the s actually! IMHO $5 knives, well, thats About $20 in my country, has a role to play... Here in the third world, its a different perspective when choices are really at hand..
