Anyone check out the June 2004 issue of KI yet?? Good bit of Spyderco coverage.

First a synopsis on the SHOT with their brief takes on the Assist I and II, D'Allara Rescue, Persian, Kerambit, folding Ronin, Scorpius, Salt-1, Spyderfly, and the Chinook.

There is also an article breifly telling some of the history and the phillosophy behind collaborations. When they mentioned major cutlery companies' collaborations with known makers and other companies, Spyderco had nearly 50 models credited. Seems like Sal wrote the book on collaboration.

And finally, "<i>The Innovative Edge<i>" is ALL about Spyderco. For those who have yet to meet Sal, this is an insightful glimpse into the man, his company, and his phillosophies in creating some of the most ergonomical, functional, and innovative high performance knives for the best value. Sal speaks a bit about Spyderco's beginnings, the competitive knife market, blade coatings, customers, and the Spyderco reputation. Don't let me spoil it all here. To quote Sal and KI, "<i>"The knife industry is a maverick industry in many ways. Knife people are a little more independent. They bother to think for themselves," he reflects. The man imbodies this sentiment.</i>"

Good read. Go grab a copy and think about it.

what's the best knife mag? Knives Illustrated, Blade, or Tactical Knives?

My personal favorite is Tactical Knives. Being a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> fan, TK covers the type of knives I'm most interested in.

My second choice is Blade but I also pick up Knives Illustrated on occasion (this will be one of them)

Thanks Java,

That's usually my least favorite magazine (after Blade and TK), but I'll watch for this issue!

java/KBR -

Got mine today <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> Looks to be informative!

A footnote : Knives Illustrated was one of the earlier &quot;trade journals&quot; that arrived about the same time as Guns Illustrated.

BTW - Check out TACTICAL KNIVES : The new
issue features an article on the ATR ( I think by Jerry Van Cook, didn't spend enough time loitering @ the newstand to find out! )

My favorite mag is hands down TK. That's everything i'm looking for in a magasine about knives. I read the article about the ATR and I expected a bit more, maybe something more like when Larsen tested the Strider MCSOCOM in November. I wished the ATR did a bit more than just shave hair and cut cardboard. (I know I'm exagerating but I still hoped for more)
