Two of my favorite quotes come from one of my favorite movies....Tombstone w/Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer.

"Typical WOP! Brings a knife to a gun fight."
From "The Untouchable"

My current favorite, which is unfortunately already being used as a signature by some one on this forum:

"No all who wander are lost"

J.R.R. Tolkin through the feather of Bilbo Baggins describing Aragon in the first volume of The Lord of The Rings. However, it struck a note with me when I read Prof. Kroto describing his research which lead to the discovery of the "bucky balls" (fullerenes) and ultimately to him receiving a nobel prize. The quote gives me hope that I am still wondering in my own research and that I am not totally lost yet...even though it feels like it.

Lengthy but that's java....

Col. Jessup from <b>A Few Good Men</b>

"Son, we live in a world that has walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with guns. Whose gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinburg? I have more responsibility here than you could possibly fathom. You weep for Santiago, and you curse the marines. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That Santiago's death, while tragic, probably saved lives. And that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. I know deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you don't want me on that wall, you need me on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to."

Another great line from Tombstone: Val Kilmer to Kurt Russell, after listening to Kurt Russell lamenting that he can't seem to have a normal life, "There's no such thing as a 'normal life' Wyatt, there's only LIFE."

Lotta wisdom in there.

40 bonus points at the SATC for anyone who knows this one...

"I have an M.D. from Harvard. I am board certified in cardio-thoracic medicine and trauma surgery, I have been awarded citations from seven different medical boards in New England, and I am never, ever sick at sea. So I ask you; when someone goes into that chapel and they fall on their knees and they pray to God that their wife doesn't miscarry or that their daughter doesn't bleed to death or that their mother doesn't suffer acute neural trama from postoperative shock, who do you think they're praying to? Now, go ahead and read your Bible, <i>Dennis</i>, and you go to your church, and, with any luck, you might win the annual raffle, but if you're looking for God, he was in operating room number two on November 17, and he doesn't like to be second guessed. You ask me if I have a God complex. Let me tell you something: I am God, and this sideshow is over."
