View Full Version : "Q" is cute!

On my recent visit to Prague (Czech Rep), I purchased a C35PBK aka "Q".

This little "toy" is very lightweight thanks to the material choice (Zytel handle and perforated blade featuring the Spydie bug).

AFAIK the knife has been discontinued for some years now. That is the reason for why I have to scramble the info this way. Here is the question:

What kind of steel is the blade made of and what year was it discontinued? Also, is it a collectors piece?

Regards!

Hey there, if you look here:"http://www.outdooredge.com.au/catalogue/spyderco/q.htm" it says that the Q has a 440C blade.

Hope this helps

Hi dePaul,

We quit making "Q"s in mid 1998 for several reasons. It was manufactured here in Golden and took enormous blocks of our limited manufacturing manpower and time away from making other Golden products (i.e. Military and Starmate models). The blade steel was 440C (thanks MaNcEr), weight 1.0oz (28g) blade length was 2 1/2" (64mm) and the MSRP for the factory versions (cut-out bug American flag) was 49.95. As for being a collector's piece...the harder they are to find the more valuable they become. Don't cut birthday cake with it!

Thanks Joyce. Very informative! Good help indeed. I will certainly not cut my birthday cake with this little one, maybe with my Military though :-D. Have to wait til next year...

Hey Samo, you don´t happen to know a good UR to take a closer look at the "R" model? BTW, thank you for this info as well!

Cya!
