Here's the deal -
As websites have to be maintained by
humans for the most part nowadays, they
are prone to human error - Ex. - I tried
to buy a stiletto kriss in white acrylic
from eBladestore.com recently. The system
took payment, sold me the knife, and then,
a day later they "e" me. Sorry, the item is
on "backorder". I "e" them back to "cancel".
Then doing a Google search the next day, I
found they had a kriss in horn. This morning
I get an "e" from them that they only have
the standard blade. I "e" them back & now
I intend to call.
At one time the State's consumer
protection agencies & the FTC would
pull a businesses license for "faulty
or misleading advertising" or put the
business on "probation". With the advent
( what a Biblical term applied to the 'Net!)
of the InterNet, and general slothiness of
the millenium, this seems to become
commonplace with regards on-line buying.
Advice - Make SURE you back an on-line
purchase ( or if the item is "un-availible"<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
to CALL if the company put up an "800" number. BTW - eBladestore DOESN'T have one!
