I went out at lunchtime and bought the G-10 Rookie I was writing about in "Serrated G-10 Rookie model" thread. It sure is a nice little knife. I'm cutting up an orange with it right now. Very nice handling. Makes me want to get a Police model in G-10 now...

Before buying this one, I compared it with the Delica lightweight, and they are very similar. I decided to get the Rookie today however, as I can always buy a Delica later (and probably will) but I won't be able to get the Rookie in future. Anyway, thanks to you all for your assistance and comments about this. I appreciate your help. Jeff/1911.

By the way, this is my first Spyderco. Somehow, I feel different now...Jeff/1911.

Wait till you get your 2nd and 3rd, and 4th... hey, someone in here is clearing 150!

I'm on my 3rd right now, and not sure of the next one...

VampyreWolf - What are you thinking about next...? I think mine will be a Native in some form and I'm also trying to decide on my "big, plain blade" choice. Military, Police, Endura...eventually. The Rookie filled my predetermined need for a "small serrated blade". Cheers, Jeff/1911.

Actually, I have the 3 I need ATM:
Plainedge(Delica)
50/50(Ladybug)
Serrated(Cricket)

If anything, my next will either be something like the Merlin, or the Native. I prefer the 2.5-3" length, and not too expensive.
My ladybug was just to test serrations, and my Cricket was a love at first sight...

Jeff,
Glad you liked that Rookie! If you are looking for a big, plain edge knife my personal preference would be the Military. That flat grind with a plain edge is fantastic. I might also suggest one of the full size Calypsos in plain edge if you can find one. They have been discontinued but still show up here and there. They have a flat ground blade with VG10 steel and black micarta handle. Very nice. Any of the three you mentioned though will serve you well.
