Hello All,

My first (of many I hope) posts. I’ve been reading posts here for a while and want to say thanks to you guys. I’ve learnt a lot, and had a few laughs too. Cheers.

I was hoping that someone could give me a little advice on two topics. I’m after a new EDC. I have a Delica, but I’m finding it a little big, well more to the point I find the other people find it's a little big.:-( I was thinking that a Meer Kat would fit the bill nicely. I’m after comments and suggesting - please?

The second thing I need some advice on is Co Pilot SS. I have found one in a store here in NZ. It's been there a while, and not sold. I understand that they are no longer made, and have not been for a while. It has a serrated edge and I’m after a plain edge for my EDC, but I was wondering if it was worth putting away as a collectable?

Thanks in advance,

Ian

Wecome to the forum!

If you need a smaller EDC the Meerkat is a great little knife. It has the "Phantom" locking system which is good fun. There are other small knives which are very good depending what you are intending to use them for.

I'd take a look at the (listed in size, smallest to largest), Ladybug, Jester, Cricket, Navigator, Dragonfly, or Salsa. The Salas is the largest at 5 3/16".

As far as the Copilot is concerned. They are still available now and the on eBay and sell for around the $50-$60 mark.

Good luck!

Regards Ken

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Thanks Ken, I picked up a Meer Kat today. Still getting use to it. Will have to spend some time with it. I keep looking for the release on the back.

The other thing that gets me is that my pocket feels empty, there is a lot less knife in there. I felt kind of naked for the first hour or so after I swaped the Delica out.

Have not picked up to co-pilot as yet. $130nz so about $65US... Seams a bit high, still nice wee thing.

Hi Ian. You know, it's a funny thing that you mentioned the Copilot (my wife recently re-discovered mine in the drawer and she currently carries it) <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>. I think it is a collectable, it's the kind of stuff that's discontinued for good; in order to make room for improved models (like the Navigator or the Meerkat), of course, but in time this makes it harder and harder to find.

Hi Ian. The Meerkat is a great choice for your needs. I have found that a &quot;cool factor&quot; (in the case of the Meerkat, the lock) makes people less scared of knives as &quot;weapons&quot;. Enjoy your new toy.

Aloha and welcome!

I like the Meerkat for the phantom lock. It's a lot of fun, and rides deep in pocket, an attribute as many times did my Cricket and Dragonfly try to make a &quot;run for it&quot;! LOL! The Meerkat handle is also hand filling and it feels like a much larger knife.

You may want to look into the Salsa. BROAD flat grind blade, Cobra hood.

I had a Co-Pilot for a LONG time in my fanny bag as a &quot;just in case&quot; knife...that is until I found out it was a rare one w/ brass liners that is!!! It is an excellent lil' knife and has found a new home in LA w/ a great new owner who is also a great friend...

Although my Dragonfly tried to escape a few times, it is an EXCELLENT smaller knife.
