RECENTLY BOUGHT THE LARGE RESCUE KNIFE.
WORKS GREAT FOR COAST GUARD DUTIES.
DON'T HAVE MUCH USE FOR THE CARBIDE TIP, BUT IT'LL EAT UP NYLON ROPE! jpp

Glad you like your Assist, I would imagine you don't break many car windows out at sea.
What do you do in the CG?

Welcome aboard MARLIN639.
Keen to here more about how your new knife, as I have an original rescue (the grand father of your knife) and I'm thinking of getting a newer model.
Stay safe,
Ian

Hi Marlin639,
Welcome to the Spyderco forums. LOL- the carbide tip in addition to breaking windows makes a pretty decent ice pick, nut cracker.

Hi and welcome
The Assist is an AWSOME rescue model, I like to give it the title of "King Rescue".
The Carbine Tip+the awsome blade+the whistle are great saftey features.
Even though you out to sea, you gotta come to land at some time or other, that carbine tip may just save your skin oneday, I have mine clipped in my jacket pocket as we speak.
Take care

Welcome to the Spyderco Forum. While I'm not that much into rescue knives, I really like the Assist (not the kind that you have, but the Wharncliffe version). And I really love the whistle in the handles; strange, huh? <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>
