I was at a large outdoor gear store the other day searching for Spyderco knives. The clerk showed me their selection, I was surprised that the majority of the knive's blades were stamped "Seki Japan" Only one was stamped Colorado USA Earth. Could anyone educate me as to where spyderco knives are really produced.

To my knowledge they have 2 plants, one in Golden Colorado and 1 in Seki City Japan, a fair amount are produced at the Seki plant, but the more expensive models (I may be wrong) like the Civie, the Military and so on seem to be produced at the Golden plant.
Hope this helps

Spyderco has had their knives produced by various contractors in Seki city in Japan from their earliest days. IIRC the original Bob Terzuola folder was the first knife to be produced in the US followed by the Centofante. Looking through the current catalogue, I believe the following knives are now being produced in Golden: Native Ltwt, Military, Starmate, Chinook, Vesuvius, Gunting, SpydeRench and the soon to be introduced Temperance. Sorry if I've missed any <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow, in Australia it's tomorrow already.
Hi 300. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.
Spyderco produces knives in Golden, Colorado (about 20-25%) and in Seki City, Japan. We work with several makers in Seki that we have learned over the past 20 years can meet our standards both in product and in relationship.
Hope that helps.
