Teach a man to fish,.... well you know the rest.

It's great to see Spyderco MBC up and running.

I am always amused at those that think that a new "toy" will ward of evil on its own. How many of us know individuals that will spend thousands on a custom 1911 or damascus bowie and claim that they are prepared for the worst. These same individuals will never spend a dime on a training course, and rarely, if ever, train on their own.

Alternatively, how many of you practice your Comtech Drawpoint with a ballpoint pen. I for one would not want to be on the wrong side of Mr. Keating with a Bic.

If you are at the MBC forum, chances are that you train with your steel, or soon will start down that path. It is an honor to be among those that "walk the walk".

I am making a personal resolution. For every dollar I spend on "toys" and other equipment, I will spend two dollars on training. I encourage others to join me in this pursuit of knowledge and skill.

Remember, you are the weapon.

SKS, you have hit the head squarely on the nail! I have noticed "gear" topics nearly always generate a ton more posts than "training" topics.
It's okay to be a gearhead (I am). But it's what's between the ears that gets you home.

SKS, I couldn't agree with you more. I too am going to make a valid effort to spend more money ans time learning to use the tools I already have, before buying more. ( Now if I could only stop myself from buying more!!!)

I ain't catholic, but AMEN BROTHER, AMEN...

You're exactly right with your statement, most ppl buy a tool, but many don't know how to correctly use it.

SKS,
I've decided to invest in a Gunting drone and videos. Then budget for and attend a seminiar. If my progress is acceptable I'll buy a live blade. My buddies won't be impressed by my dull training drone, but I'm not investing in the Gunting to score the 'way cool' prize.

Bravo on your resolution, I may also adopt a similar time and money budget.

fishing? we are going fishing..hmmm is the Catcherman an MBC knife?...
self defense against fish..
the art of Martial Fish Craft...
ahhhh EH its Canadian..
The art of Martial Salmon Craft...
if its that far north does the Ulu fit in?

Ok I'll be serious..

MBC is the only way to teach people how to properly use the tools designed and made by the knife guys especially our favorite SPYDERCO...
MBC teaches us how to catch the fish rather than just prepare it to eat..
though I do like the eating part..

And yes alot of people are very interested in saying "look I own this partricular knife..Oh yes I spent this much"..but they don't spend nor endeaver to get into training with steel..

Those of you that do are a very special group and its up to all of us to encourage others to get training not just get knives..it should be a package deal!!!

Seth,

My buddies are more impressed by the Drone than the Live blade. Just bang on them a bit with the red one, and see how impressed they can be.

Bram,

It took the seafood restaurants a few days to recover after you left Vancouver.

And if we need a modern ulu, we can contact Mr. Caracci. I believe he has one of those.
