View Full Version : Spyderco knives dishwasher safe?

Good evening,



I have recently purchased three Spyderco knives (Delica, Endura and Native). My question is this: Are these things dishwasher safe, that is to say, can I run them through the dishwasher to get them clean? Will the heat dry cycle dry them off enough so that I do not have to worry about rusting? Should I be concerned with the plastic grip or the rivets? Any information would help. Thanks.

Can't be good for them.

I think you should just go over them with a damp cloth. Put a little oil on the moving parts and then dry it off.

It's not the heat or moisture but the time it takes inside the darn thing! It probably won't DAMAGE your knives, but it can't be good for them.

OUCH!!! I don't dis-like any knife enough to wash it in the dishwasher!!!! The soaps can be corrsive
enough to "etch" the edge making it duller. If your knives get dirty thow'em in a pan of warm water and
plain dishsoap , handwash 'em then be darn sure to let them dry good, then oil to protect. Whatever
you do don't leave'm wet. That's an early death for any good knife.

I have only used the hottest tap water available, and scrubbed with a cloth or foam pad, rinsed again with hot water and towel dried. This limits removel of the lube, and cleans the blade enough to 'eat' with it.
I run all my good kitchen, and hunting knives through this treatment.
I have found this to be most effective with the change of blade materials over the years, and it severely reduces possible edge damage from getting knocked around.
