My Harpy isn't opening as smoothe as it used to and I was wondering if theres was some special kind of oil i should buy to use on the pivot point. Was going to use some WD-40, but decided to check. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

I use TUF-GLIDE a rust inhibitor & lubricant.
Directions on bottle: Clean surfaces well, shake TUF-GLIDE and apply to surfaces to be protected. Work mechanism to insure complete coverage. more info: www.sentrysolutions.com

When my blades start to give trouble opening(when they feel gritty or just dont open as easily) I give em a good wash in hot water(hot as in like youd wash dishes in) with normal soap by hand, let it dry completly then use any good quality lubricant like WD-40, or my fav which is the Dura-lube spray.
There are many many many lubricants you'll get told to try, long as its a good quality lubricant it'll be fine.
Hope this helps

As a pure lubricant, I think you'll find that Break-Free or Militec-1 are much better than WD-40.

I used to use WD-40, and I could never fingure out why the blade would become stiff and hard to open. It turns out that WD-40 gunks up and gets hard. I wouldn't use it on moving parts, but it is very good for cleaning the blade or other metal. If you do spray it on the pivot us something else on on top of WD-40 to lube the pivot. I now use White Lightning lube. It is a wax based lubricant. You can get it at any bike shop.
P.S. If you look further downt the forum you will find other lube questions. They talk about WD-40 and that is where I learnd why my knives were getting stiff on me.
Ehh, supposed to be Thorin... : )
