So the Temperance is do out this summer and the Perrin Fixed blade maybe this fall. Any hints as to what else we expect to see make it into production for the MBC line? Anyone else like to see a Spyderco Butterfly knife?

Here is every quote by Sal that I could find on balisongs:

"Yes, I am interested in , and collect Bali-songs.
We haven't ever made butterfly's. They are illegal just about everywhere.

All of these companies making these "perhaps illegal" knives are either in Oregon (or another state that permits mfg) or they are steppng into dangerous territory as far as the law goes.

"Blades - on the Spyderco design that we did play with (back about 15 years), the "holes" were used at the back of the handles. Two larger holes. This permited "drop" openings without using the latch. Our designs were latchless. We used a small magnet in each handle to keep it closed. the blade was long (4.5" - 109mm) thin, and fully serrated "wee hawk". very light piece. More like the Phillipine designs in terms of weight.
I had talked to Lester about making one for us, but he was pretty busy at the time and we have our hands full as well in golden.

They are illegal to import so we couldn't make them in Seki.

Velitrius - Butterfly knives are illegal in almost every state.

"Hi Kyle. Rugger is correct. Bali-songs are illegal to manufacture or carry in Colorado.
We did design one once. Lester even considered making it for us at one time. When the laws added the Bali to the "Switchblade" laws, that made it impossible for us to make.

"Hi Jonas. I wouldn't know where to look for the drawing at this time. I can give you some particulars.
Blade was about 4.5" (115mm). the entire piece was designed more along the line of the Philipine style. thin, light and fast.

We had a "Wee Hawk" style blade, fully serrated. the handle was a single cast material (Titan or aluminum preferred). Holes drilled the length, but the last two holes (closest to latch side) were larger so one could index a larger hole and "drop" open the piece. I didn't include a latch (Don't care for them). I used small magnets to keep it closed. Clip on one handle, tip up.

Maybe one day we'll make some protos. It's illegal to make them in Colorado.

"Kile, If I get around to making one, then we'll make more than one. Right now we're so backed up with current production and new production, that it will have to wait. A kit would be the best way to do it, for collectors only.

Thanks Carlos, Guess there is something to be said for setting up shop in Oregon or Florida. It's a real shame most of the people who make the laws are clueless... I can understand why it's not woth the time, money and effort. I still would love to see one though!!! Thanks Again
I love this new MBC line up and can't wait for new ones to come...
