This guy claims this is a factory assembly error, with the pivot screws installed "opposite hand" and is a rare example. Most I see advertised have both pivot screws inserted from the same side. I suspect that any 'Fly could be disassembled and changed this way, but mine came this way. Anything to this? Anybody know?

Cheers,

Jaxon

Hi Jaxon,

I haven't checked my 'fly to see how the screws are placed, and probably won't. Can't you just take one out and reverse it? Is this a rarity?

I received 3 Spyderflys directly from Spyderco last month. Two of them came with "opposite hand" screws while the other one has the screws on the same side.

Noticable difference is that the screws sit at different height while on the same side and can be a sore for visual perfectionists. Putting the screws on different sides creates an illusion that hide this visual problem, I guess.

Seller is also claiming blade is under 5cm. Now THAT would make it one rare Spyderfly! ;) There is at least one other right now on eBay with screws installed that way so I'd assume that some did come out of the factory that way. But since, with the proper Torx driver is at hand, even a total putz like me could "flip" one of the screws in under two minutes, it is kind of hard to prove. :D
