:) :spyder: Hello Denny: I must start off by saying that I am enamored by the little " S" shaped razor wonder. I bought my first Dodo ( Mr. Dodo) back in March. At first I just thought it would be a novelty addition to my growing :spyder: collection. By the way Mr. Dodo is the PE version and my latest is Mrs Dodo for she is the serrated version ( the girls are a little rougher you know). Well anyway when I first got it I was using it to open packages and to do various and sundry chores around the house. To get to the meat of this testimony I very quickly ended up making it another EDC (every day carry). I now use it equally as much as I do my old Renegade which for the most part is my dominant pocket knife. To sum it all up you absolutely can not go wrong. Either plain or serrated doesn't really matter much because they are both literally a functional " work of ART". Check out my previous posts and you will find my sharpening tip for Mr. Dodo. You won't be sorry. It is a keeper for sure. :spyder: :D
Love the DODO:) Great ergos and blade shape. S30V and G-10 can't go wrong there either. I love it and carried mine for just under a year before retiring it to the safe for another of my Spydies. Trust me you won't be dissappointed:) Take Care and let us know what you think when you get it ;)

Great knife!!! I carry mine more than any other knife. It has it's limitations - peeling and slicing an apple comes to mind, skinning a 'coon - but excels at most cutting chores. In terms of materials - G10 and S30 - nothing at that price can touch it. The ergos are excellent, and it carries very easily.

There's nothing that I dislike about the Dodo, though I'd like to see it in a lockback version.
The blade is great. The handle is one of the very best on any folding knife that I've ever held. It's that good.
But it, you won't be disappointed.

Like my Dodo alot, great cutter, great steel, great ergonomics, what more can a man ask for?
How Bout Them Red Sox!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers,
Rob
Thom, is right the Dodo is NOT a skinner and does not even have a lanyard hole. BUT, it IS a totally unique and innovative design in so many ways. Start with the ball lock an ingienous lockup system that is Fort Knox when working correctly, perfect grippy linerless G-10 scales in an open architechiture (sp) sheeple friendly blue or "tactical" black, ergonomics that give a death grip on the small and effective s30v blade. Knife of the Year Award. This is an urban box cutter 's delight, will certainly open your mail, clean those fingernalis, and seems to have potential as a mini-matriarch if you get off the freeway in the wrong part of town.

The Dodo has been my EDC for quite a while now. I love the design and the high quality materials. Some time ago it was tested in a German knife magazine. They were very positive about it. At the end of the article they concluded: 'the Spyderco Dodo is not a knife for everyone, but it definately has its qualities. In many aspects it's unbeatable and it sure is somehow different'. They also said the Dodo should be a first class rescue knife (especially with a serrated edge). No seatbelt or rope can withstand it.
I own a black one with serrated edge (see pic), but I think of buying a blue one (plain edge) too.

Great little knife, box-cutter, cigar snipper, and psuedo-scalpel. I have one in black PE. The ball lock is outstanding- simple, secure, ambidextrous, and FAST for one-handed open AND closing.
About the only negative thing is something I posted on a while back: The profile a pretty wide due to the nature of the lock. The blade is canted at around a 20-30 degree angle to the scales when closed. I'm talking about the distance from the back of the handle across the side of the scale and Spyderhole to the spine of the closed blade. It is wider than my Military and the same width as my Chinook I! This is only a factor when it is carried in a front pocket and you are sitting down. Unfortunately, that is how I carry my Dodo!
I find if I’m wearing jeans and sitting on a motorcycle or sitting in a chair, it really digs into my hip. I usually end up rotating and adjusting the little knife often.

Burnett -
Thanx! You just made me want a SE DoDo in black! The one I had in
blue got passed on to a forum member who had his stolen at the airport -
so this is my choice for November.

I have a blue pe that I like alot!
But it is not a small knife as many say.Small blade yes,but closed it is longer, wider and heavier than a Delica.
I plan on chopping my handle down to Meercat type shape.
As far as a lanyard goes just tie it off around the spacer.

With all that has been said I can truely say that with all the smaller :spyder: 's that I have used there is not even a close second. The Dodo is truely and bluely (referring to the blue PE version) the most functional and practical blade that ever came out of the Great :spyder: factory. I make the case that Eric Glesser must be a descendant of Leonardo Da' Vinci because the Dodo is a work of art masterpiece. Let's all give Eric a major " high five"!! :D :spyder: :)

The Dodo is also very versatile:
it's a true little big folder (design, materials, construction) it feels and uses like a full size folder.
It's lefty friendly, so you can carry two for both hands
It's design is a truly folding La Griffe/S.P.O.T., it won't easily dislodge.
It's small enough to carry legally in most places
It comes in blue en PE, os you can have a more PC looking version of your favorite folder!
I just love it, and wrote a little piece on it here (http://www.geocities.com/mrblonde50/dodo.htm)
