Had to go down to SC. this week end.Couldn't find any Spydie shops but didn't have much time to look around.
I did stop in at the Gun-Knife show in Piegon Forge on the way down.It basicly sucked.Only 2 dealers in the place knew what a Spyderco was, kind of strange that a so called knife expert-dealer does not know about spyderco and for that matter none of the other high end companies.
Any way I lucked out and picked up a new no box PE pre 98 Endura AUS 8 with the wide FRN clip for 30.00 out the door.
I guess I will order a Manix from New Graham tomarrow.

Hi Jeff,
I've had about the same experience at gun/knife shows out here on the west coast. Lots of dealers with 3 for $5 chinese knockoffs, many people with pot bellies and leather chaps and skinny guys with beards carrying rusty rifles with for sale signs sticking out the barrel. Despite this, I found a dealer last year with a Spyderco SS Standard old style, with punched-out clip, new in red box with foil paper. He didn't know what it was and sold it to me for $15! Always a silver lining I guess.

P.S.,
You'll really dig the Manix.

Bummer...I have yet to see a real knife dealer at shows around here, aside from the folks with custom knives that show up occassionally. I was shocked about a year ago when I saw a William Henry Carbon Fiber Lancet over at Holloway's show from reload dealer. As I remember, it was brand new and about $100 less that SRP. I'm a lefty, though, so I didn't pick it up.
It's sad when the closest we can come is SMKW's manufacturer's Rep Day.
One of these days, I'm going to Blade Show. That seems the only real chance around here to see a real knife show.
Do you know about Green Military in Knoxville? They used to have a decent selection of Spyderco's, but I haven't been by in months. I used to enjoy buying from Tom, the owner, but he opened a store in Nashville a couple of years ago, so he's hardly ever in the Knoxville store.

We've probably seen each other. I was in almost every week back in 1999 & 2000. That's when the bug got me!
I may take you up on the offer. A one day or one-nighter would be perfect. I've never been and would like to meet some of the folks from this and other forums.

Maybe we will get lucky again and Joyce will offer those free VIP passes again this next year! I'd sure go again...but I think this time by myself, so I can wonder around on my own and not feel like I'm keeping someone where they don't belong...ie my step-dad. Anyhow, I hope if I go I'll see you all up there again. Laterz! :)
