Hope someone can clear this up.......I'm befuddled in trying to keep all the "Salt" knives straight. Can someone straighten me out???? The use of images and Spyderco Product numbers would be most helpful.

there are the following knives ( and there may be more - who knows?)

SALT
SALT 1
Pacific Salt
Atlantic Salt

There seem to be new versions of the Atlantic Salt and the Pacific salt...? or do the older models just have new names.??? Thanks for the help.... :)

i think the pacific salt was made with salt out of the pacific ocean and the atlantic salt was made with salt out of the atlantic ocean. hope this clears up the pacific and atlantic for you.

Hi Salty,

Last year, when the Salt I first arrived on the scene as Spydercos first H1 knife, it was often referred to as just the Salt. No problem, as there was nothing to confuse it with. Since the Pacific Salt debuted earlier this year, I know that I, for one, am more apt to use the "I" qualifier when referring to the Delica sized, member of the Salt family. The Endura sized Pacific Salt has been available in black for some time, a yellow version appears to be in the works, but not yet released. Sal has commented that the yellow version is being done in response to requests by Spyderco's Australian distributor, so I'd venture a guess that the first batch of them may very well be sent there. I don't think the Atlantic Salt has been released yet, at least I have not seen any being offered for sale. From what can be seen in the pictures, aside from the steel, it appears identical to the latest versions of the C14 Rescue. I'm kind of hoping that, like the Salt I and Pacific, the Atlantic will be available in PE. Seems logical that if the yellow version of the Pacific sells well, the Salt I and Atlantic might follow suit.

What does the future hold? Perhaps a large cutlass shaped H1 fixed blade called the Caribbean Salt? Or a pearl handled, stiletto shaped, H1 auto called the Mediterranean Salt? ;) Probably not. :D

It was actually Benchmade who first used the steel in a factory knife. It was their divers knife known as Model 100S-H2O. It is a fixed blade divers knife. You can get them with either a yellow or black handle. I do think the Great :spyder: factory was the first to use it in a folder. :) :spyder: :)

Thanks Paul
My confusion comes from ALL the versions both black scaled and yellow scaled, both PE and SE, both Endura sized and Delica sized, listed at :www.policegearusa.com. I shared your understanding of the knives.....now there are "more listed" than my understanding.

Anyone at the home office have a word on this or the veracity/legitmacy of ALl the Salt listings at www.policegearusa.com? :)

I agree Salty, that site is either in possession of some very interesting inside info, or is making some very large assumptions and projections. Some comment from Sal or Joyce would be appreciated, but considering the way recent models have appeared almost out of nowhere, think I can guess what those comments will be. I'll admit I can be a bit of a cynic, but just the fact that both the Atlantic and the yellow version of the Pacific show the same "expected ship date" sets off my BS sensors. I can say for sure that, in spite of that outfit's ad copy, the black versions of the Delica based C88 have been called the Salt 1 since at least October of last year, as I just checked the box mine came in. Still, must admit I'm sorely tempted to put in a pre-order for a PE yellow Atlantic. ;)

According to the Dealer's catalog, all three will be available with black or yellow FRN handles. Salt I, Pacific, and Atlantic.

Hello friends,

Here's the Salt story and product number breakdown.

Don't know what edge configuration and color we currently have in stock of the Salt I but both colors and edge type are out.

C91: Pacific Salt is the Endura-sized version. The black handles came in a few months ago, yellow handles arrived last week and I believe we have completely sold the first yellow shipment of Pacific Salts. MSRP: $81.95

C91PBK- Pacific Salt - PlainEdge - Black
C91SYL- Pacific Salt - SpyderEdge - Yellow
