Rare Military

One thing,
I thought the first millies were ATS-34?He says it is 440V.

He could be right about the 440V. :spyder:co started with 440V for a very short time, then switched to ATS-34 and then back to 440V and to S30V later on.
(if I remember correctly...)

I managed to find a NIB completely sterile PE Military some time ago. For whatever this is worth, the blade has absolutely nothing in the way of marks, engravings or etching. I can't tell which steel was used for the blade.

We have three C36GPSE Military combo CPM440V blades left on closeout. They do however have all the Spyderco markings.

I have never seen a Spyderco knife with no markings - interesting for sure.

I've managed to find other sterile Spyderco models:FRN Walker, Salsa, Impala and Native. Several say only "Prototype" and I assumed the others were too.

I have a factory proto with no markings at all and a strange looking thumb ramp.
I also have an early black blade version with the tang marked "SPYDERCO CPM-T440V" This was a writers evaluation model supplied for a magazine review announcing the upcoming release of the Millie.
This version is also seen in the earliest Military advertisements.

There seems to be a lot of strange Millies out there!

Just thought I would add that I sent for a replacement plain blade for my mili but of course had to send the knife back , this was 4 or 5 years ago or more and recieved my knife handle with a beautiful unmarked serrated blade.
Whats more I cut the blade, and handle down to a size about like the para-military. This was done long before the para military came out . so it is quite an interesting piece. So it does stand to reason that there are some interesting combos out there. And if that isnt strange enough , I also happen to now be a Spyderco collaborator which also puts an interesting twist to this resized unmarked knife. The importand thing is that it cuts great which is really what a knife is for!

Any idea how many "2 screw clip" CPM 440V Military's were made. I just bought a Military from someone, and I think it is one of the early ones. It has the old 2 screw clip, it is a 440V blade steel, and the markings are on the blade in front of the opening hole.
I don't know if I want to carry it now. :)

Hi All,
Just thought I would give " closure" to this thread...
I was the person that sold that "rare Military".
I posted elsewhere...

I have just sent off a Sterile Military off to Canada. I obtained it in South Africa, where I lived until 5 years ago. Marc Ager, of Ram South Africa, visited the Spyderco factory, and saw 10 of the sterile C36's in a box, plain
edge and sharpened, and the only mark on them was the number on the clip.
He had them sent to South Africa, and I obtained one for a premium.
What info can you give us, Sal?
I do have a few pics, somewhere on my hard drive.
