View Full Version : multi-colored handles

I know some of the earlier Delica and Endura models come with handle colors other than black. I was wondering if the Delica and Endura 98's will maybe someday have the same? If so I know I'd be intrested in one or a Dozen. Please let me know.

Thanks, Chris

Was wondering the same thing Sal. Did sales of the pink Delicas and Crickets warrant enough interest for additional color runs? (Still interested in the cost of a custom run of blue Delicas.)

Chris, Joel. There will be another run of blue Delicas. That was the model that went to the top of Mount Everest with the Swedish climbing team. We'll be re-introducing the model again in the near future.

I have one of those earlier blue Delicas. I KNEW it was carried by a climbing team but I couldn't remember which country or which mountain. Thanks for the refresher!

You're the best Sal. I'll personally go out of my way to hype the blue, plain-edge Delicas in person, as well as on all of the online defense-oriented forums I frequent.

In my opinion (especially with the upcoming new changes), this SKU will rank up there as the perfect non-tactical looking, tactical folder.

Sal, At the risk of opening another can of worms wasn't another another team on Everest or another expedition equipped with another Spyderco? The Endura maybe? Just a faint and possibly defective memory...

Sal,

Whatever happened to those burgundy Calypso Jrs? I had intended to keep hassling Michelle but I got diverted onto other things, like the Chinese Folder .

Trouble making again .

Hi Ben. There was also an American team that went up with an early version of the Endura with red handles, but they didn't make it up to the top.

There was an American "clean up crew" that went with yellow Rescues.

Another group went up K2 with a variety of Spydercos.

Thanks Sal- If I remember right there were ads featuring both the Swiss and American teams.

Just out of curiosity (Really!) has there been any thought of releasing an Endura 98 with a colored handle?

Hi Fozzy. Just the red Endura Trainer. However, that is a good subject for a thread.

If we were to make a run of colored Enduras, and we assume you don't want pink. What color?

I vote for dark red, almost maroon, or a dark blue, something subdued but still different from black.

Thanks Sal!

YES! blue Delica's I'll buy three, 2 for me (plain + serrated) and one for my girlfriend, in the absence of a blue handled Matriarch.

For new colors, I too think a dark blue or dark red would be best.

Ferrari Red... Guess its impossible, but this colour sets everything apart..

I think the dark blue is good as well as the red color, just stay away from that teal on the Dyad Jr.- didn't like that one.

I'd like to see Enduras & Delicas in Emergency Orange,(like the Rescue model) red and blue.

Hi Sal-

I'd also agree with those who suggest orange for the Endura since lots of fire/rescue/boat types carry the Endura.

I'm also thinking maybe desert tan, forest green or a dark blue. These colors will match a lot of uniforms and are subdued yet attractive. (I'm assuming the Delica will be a lighter shade of blue like the 'Everest' Delica.)

Thanks for the chance to suggest!

Hi Chris (CJF). When you sat soon, what does that mean to you (or other forumites)?

I reality, little can happen in less than 90 days after the "go ahead" is given. Add QC & shipping (another 15 - 30 days) and that is soon.

Ok I vote for a wide array of colors for the endura. Red,blue, olive drab. But I also would like to say that a red Native with the volcano grip would be very cool to own.

Purely from a unique standpoint, a white handled Endura with a silver clip would be cool.

Practically, orange would be great. There are certain things the sheepsfoot blade on my Rescue just can't do. And high-visibility for SAR and fire activities would make me happy.

As an aside, if I recall correctly, wasn't Ernie Emerson going to release the Commander in a series of different color handles? Desert sand, green, and black? All I see advertised these days are black. Did he ever do production, and if so did the color-handled models go bye-bye due to lack of demand?

While a rainbow of Spydies would be nifty, got to support Sal's decisions when it comes to revenue based on widescale ELU demand (even if it is black).

Joel

I would have to say that red is out. We have reserved red for trainers, except for the Ladybug. We wouldn't want to0 use that color on a "live" blade.

Sal, about this next run of blue delica's. Will this be a limited run or part of regular future runs. In other words, will I have to preorder, check the forums regularly, or don't worry as there will be suffucient opportunity to get them? Thank you in advance.

Sal, OK here I go again . Have you given any thought to using the coloured FRN in models which share similar handles. I only ask because the thought of a blue handled, plain edge Merlin really gets my juices flowing .

Hi Mr. Blonde. The blue Delica will be a regular item. It will be to commemorate the Swedish climbing team taking blue Delicas to the top of Mt. Everest.

Sal. I'm skiing to the top of Mt Kosciuszko in a week's time, anything you'd like me to take . Maybe a burgundy Calypso Ltwt or a blue Merlin . I could get some great publicity photos if I can fight my way through the crowd on the summit .

YES! Thanks Sal! This makes me and my girlfriend very happy. Blue is her favorite color and she has gotten some comments on her BM Mini Reflex which she habitually uses to peel fruit in public at our university's cafeteria. Mind you, there has been a rise in young men keeping their distance from her and being extremely polite . Best to get her a blue delica, looks better and safer to carry.

How about something in CAMO....!!!
Hunter green would also be nice, or maybe even royal purple. How about a lightweight Wegner (Jr,) in blaze orange and camo.
