I've seen a picture of the Kopa in a german knife magazine called 'Katana', and it looked
awesome !
IIRC, the Kopa should be available in the end of 2004.
Now it's December - so when will it be out ?
Plans are to begin shipping the end of this month or early January.

Awesome. I can't wait. It's the first classy folder I've ever wanted. Now I just have to pick between wood or micarta... they both look so good.

Is there a picture online of them anywhere? Even a bad snapshot of a prototype would be nice just for a reference of what is coming. Every site I go to that lists it gives the "Image Coming Soon" message.

The Kopa is in the 2005 catalog but it was released by mistake so I don't know if a picture can be posted...

Spyderco Photo Archive (http://66.113.178.251/news/photos.php) has small pictures of the micarta and cocobola versions, and links to allow you to download larger ones.
talonturbo, from what Sal said a few weeks back in NY, the micarta will be released first, it will be a while before coco one hits the street. Smart move on his part, makes it a bit easier to budget for both :D though I do wish he'd done it the other way around. :( He also hinted that these two are just the beginning, let's just say more that enough for a "Kopa of the month club" ;)
Go to http://www.spyderco.com
Click on 'Pressroom/News'
Select 'Photo Archive'
And there it is...nothing secret...has been there for a couple of weeks
Also, in my site of course :D

Paul, If Jurphaas wouldn't have called me right while I was typing this post, I wouldn't have lost by a minute... :D :D

Add one more to the list of must-haves. <sigh> What a lovely knife.
In related news, my new Civilian is awaiting my pickup, which may hopefully happen tonight.

From what I understood, there will be six variations. I hope so very much that one will be California Buck-eye Burl...

Actually I think they are planning to do 15 to 20 variations (of 600 examples each) over the production life of the model. They could stop sooner or do more depending upon sales.

Wow! What a great looking knife. Have the dimensions been released yet?

Jeff, I'm not positive on dimensions, but I believe this is the model that will replace the navigator, so expect a similar smallish size.

Do wish someone lucky enough to snag a copy of the '05 catalog during its brief moment of availability would share the actual specs with us. Navigator II is a completely different animal, still in the pipeline, should be here sometime next year. Same size and silhouette, though I'd say a tad heavier, than the discontinued almite version.

With the remark that 5 3/16" is not 148mm but 132mm. Likely, 148mm is correct and 5 3/16" not. (Joyce said it is larger then the Kiwi)

I'm sure those are the published specs, but am wondering now if they could be wrong (would not be the first time). By those numbers the Kopa blade and handle are only fractionally larger than those of the Kiwi, yet I still have the impression that it felt a good bit larger when I held it.
Deacon, this is indeed how they are in the PDF.
I guess that 148mm is correct and 5 3/16" not... Joyce? :p :)

My apologies. Looks like we have a typo. I've the spec sheet here in front of me and it reads Length overall: 5-13/16" 148mm - 148 Millimeters equals 5.82677 Inches.
Please note that these measurements are taken from the Prototype and final production may vary fractionally.

Aaarrrgggghhhhhh! Another one for the list!! :D
You know when I first saw the 2005 Catalog I didn't think much of the Kopa, but the more I look at the more I think I need one
Nice...Blade steel?
