My first Delica had a reinforced plastic clip integrated with the handle. I can understand why these have been replaced by the metal clip, since (a) the clip didn't have much stick-to-it-ness, and (b) if the clip breaks, there's no way to replace it.

But the new metal clips have a rather sharp edge to them. I tend to get a scratch when I brush my thumb by my pants pocket. I'm tempted to take a file to the clip's outer edge, but thought first I'd see if anyone else had a better idea. ;)

the clips on all my knives, delica included are rounded & don't bother me... yours may be a mistake (or an older model if the clips were that way on older models... i don't know) but anyway, i see nothing wrong with rounding the edges a bit.
you could also try & contact spyderco, maybe they can send you a new clip
good luck :)

I have a blue plain edge Dodo with a "wire clip". When I got it I really thought it to be inadequate. I was surprised just like I had been in the past with other Spyderco stuff which I at one time deemed questionable. I have been carrying my wire clip Dodo everyday for almost a year and I have not had any clothing problems what so ever. I truly wish you could wire clips for all of the Spydercos. Try it, You'll like it. :) :spyder: :)

Amen, JD. IMHO the best of the wire clips is the Meerkat!!

Welcome to the forums, slightlysalty. I've found that the flat metal clips do vary a bit in "fit and finish" quality. I have some with nice smooth edges, some that are a bit rough and a few that could probably cut rope in a pinch. If it's any consolation, I don't see a correlation between knife cost and clip smoothness, it seems to be just the luck of the draw. For a carry piece I'd definitely take something to those edges, although I'd be more inclined to use a coarse stone or something around 200 grit sandpaper rather than a file to smooth them down.
