opinions of Wegner Mouse

I am in need of a small knife and am interested in feedback from people who carry and use the Wegner Mouse.

I'm glad to be the first to reply here. I've beat the drum for the Mouse loud and long here and over at BladeForums. Do a search, especially over there under "Mouse" or here under my name.
To restate briefly: the Mouse is my favorite small knife, bar none. I'm tough to please and very picky about my equipment. It cuts like a much bigger knife. It's built like a little tank. VG-10 is my favorite steel, stays sharp forever, better than my CPM 440V Military. The blade shape is the most versatile (IMHO) you can get. -Just a great knife!
Any specific questions not addressed in the reviews you'll find on the search, let me know.

In size to performance, the Mouse is about as good as you can possibly get. It is tough enough for most anything, and at it's size, there are very few places that will raise an eyebrow about confiscating or banning it.

stu, shootist16 and brian turner- how does the aluminum handle treat you -- does it scratch and ding much or is it about like a steel or Ti?

about ready to buy the mouse.

I posted this question to learn more about the Mouse as I do not own one yet. The responses were positive as well as the search results I found on this site. Mine is now in the mail!

I liked what Tortoise said, he has carried his IWB for several months (,more now I suppose,) with no signs of rust. That was important to me. Logically, I would guess that aluminum handles scratch easier than stainless steel, but I am hoping that the anodization will give it additional strength.

Maybe someone who carries this knife has a less theoretical answer to your question. I am curious too!

At any rate, I could let you know more after I get it.

Really, the handle barely shows any signs of wear, even though it's been carried "deep pocket" and in various compartments of my backpack, where the change and keys live. Truth be told, if you're actually going to carry the knife, you're going to deal with scuffs and dings on any metal handle surface, but they've been so minor as to be non-issues on the mouse.

My only -- at this time -- question about the Mouse is, is it really worth $5 more than the full-size Wegner? Knife Center is trying to get that.

The Mouse was made exclusively for Tim Wegner of Blade-Tech. He seems to be keeping a tight rein on the price that anyone he supplies sells it for.

The Stare -- you might what to check out www.bladeart.com i think you will find the mouse for cheaper price. I was just looking to but one myself. Brian Turner thanks for the imput about were I've never owned an aluminum hanlded knife before. I can't tell from the photograph is the blade flat or hollw ground?

re: the handle. As stu correctly observed, I've been carrying my Mouse for about 9 months now. That's pretty much all day, every single day. I carry it mostly IWB, but also in the watch pocket or front pocket. You'd REALLY have to look to find any signs of wear on the handle. There's a few light scratches, but you have to kind of turn the knife in your hand (like you were looking at one of those credit card holograms) to pick them up.
As to rust, not an issue. Not even a hint of oxidation of any kind, I mean not even a haze on the blade or the hardware, nothing. I'm pretty psyched that I haven't even seen wear on the "fish" logo (I specifically requested one of these from Wegner.
I've resharpened it myself on the 204 a few times now. I am no pro at this. I watch the video and do my best. And every time that VG-10 comes out perfectly.
Look no further, buy this knife. You will be satisfied.
