Posting Problem

Whenever I post a reply I get this message:



"There was an error = [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Line 1: Incorrect

syntax near '='. Use you back button to correct the problem."



If I ignore it, as I always do, I find that my message has gone through anyway. I guess if I used my back button as directed, I'd get a multiple post. It's been happening for some time and I haven't worried about it too much except that it's affecting my post count <img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>. It hasn't gone up since the problem started and I reckon I should be up to about 290 by now <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>. Is it something I'm doing wrong or a software problem?

Hmmm strange, I havent been getting anything of the sort, mabey its just due to network congestion or something of the sort, hope it clears up 4 u soon.

Clay, I have had the same problem. At least once, it resulted in a double post. I think it's better to ignore the error message.

Maybe that explains the possible &quot;record&quot; 15 taps seen in a thread recently. Somebody as stubborn than the software kept trying??

While we're at the software subject -- a very smooooth segue, IMHO -- what is with the &quot;Check here Remember Details&quot; option box below the signature option box?

Stare - - I think it means that it remembers your &quot;cookies&quot; so you don't have to log in each time you visit.

Hopefully, the software prob. will be worked out before the server starts to load up with people making multiple posts.

How very strange. It didn't happen when I posted that last message, but did when I posted a reply to the &quot;Ladybug&quot; thread a minute or so before. I wonder if it's a &quot;cookie&quot; problem. Let's see what happens when I post this.

I used to get the problem, just not clicking on &quot;remember signature&quot; seems to help.

Then again, I just posted, used sig(this is an edit), and it worked. Odd...

I am starting to get a feeling of inadequacy. The same error mssg no matter what I do.

I'm having the same problem. My number of posts is also not incrementing. I just ignore it like Clay and post seems to work anyway.

Ok, I'm going to take a stab. The Object database connector (ODBC) SQL Server Driver is a software driver than translates data between two unique Stuctured Query langauge (SQL) databases. These little codecs reside on the client side PC. They gernrally are customized to translate between two specific databases. This allows for proper syntax matching.

It is possible that the folks with this error message have a ODBC driver(s)loaded on their PC, that gripes with uploading to the Forum SQL server, due to a header configuration conflict. The posts are OK, but the client PC gripes anyway.

I hit this server from about five different boxes, but I know each box's configuration and square up the ODBC in the control panels.

In short, It may be client-side rather than server side.

Hope this helps, I tried to keep the techie talk to a minumum.

Then again, it could be due to solar flares.

Mmmmmmm...I think I might have the answer. I'm in the habit of going to &quot;Show topics for the last day&quot; and clicking on &quot;Go&quot;. When I do that I always get the error message. However, today I opened up the forums individually and there was no error message when I posted. You beauty, now my post count will start ticking over again, look out Samo and Carlos <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

These problems have been around for quite a while. As far as I know, forum administrators are aware of it. Maybe it's an inherent prob with the software.

The &quot;smiley&quot; is : ), a &quot;wink&quot; is ; ), and a &quot;frown&quot; is : (. Except don't leave a space between the characters the way I have <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.
