What is the min order for a custom run of knives..Lets say I want to do a cigar cutter in Dark green FRN with maybe my company's logo on the side or in the blade. And I'm willing to buy say 100 @ $50 is that enough to get the CNC machines going. That's one bad ass promotional gift..Spyderco cigar cutter/knife
You would need WAY more than that for a "hole" new design. Spyderco does not have a cigar cutter so the R&D and time to make a prototype would cost way more than 100 @ $50 a knife. Then the cost to set up produce...yikes
I know for promotional offers they have etched an already existing model but never designed a new knife for only 100 made.
Just my thoughts...sorry to rain on your parade :(
Take Care!!!!
Hi Credit. Tooling costs for FRN molds are quite high (20K-80K) depending on the part.
R&D & design time as well is easily 5K - 15K, depending on the design.
Need to make more than 100 knives. ;)
sal
Buy your choice of FRN knives, or alum, and drill a big ass hole through both scales. You could have a Salsa, with a big hole in it, that could cut cigars. No tooling and you've got a one of a kind. You could do it with a spydercard too.

Yeah I was thinking more of a modified design not really a whole new design
Call me crazy use a rescue 78mm and add a whistle to it and a large hole. can it really be that hard. The already have the hole pattern from the karamit could fit a 54 ring cigar throught that bad boy.
