How much would it cost to put mother of pearl on a stainless steel handle with santa fe stoneworks? Has anybody here sent their knife to santa fe to have work done on it? How much did it cost you and what did you have done to which knife? I'm thinking about buying a stainless steel spyderco and having some kind of stone on the handle.

All depends on the type of stone used and the size of the knife...I sent them $200 for lapis on two knives a progrip and a spur. Lapis is one of the more expensive stones. Picasso marble which is much cheaper is gorgeous IMO

It depends on which knife you want done. It is always more cost effective if you get something from their current offerings:

Police
Civilian
Delica
Harpy
Scorpius
Cricket
Dragonfly
Kiwi

Best bet would be to visit the Santa Fe (http://www.santafestoneworks.com/index.html) wbsite, contact them, explaining the exact model you wish to have worked on and exactly what you want done. Bill Wirtel generally responds within a couple days, at the most. With pearl in particular, there may be a considerable difference in price between a design that would require a large single piece and one which allowed the use of smaller pieces. With any material the cost of having the material of you choice applied to both sides will be double that of having it applied to only one. As Ed pointed out, assuming you want this work done on a current production model, getting one of their standard pieces can be more cost effective, but having something that reflects your personal tastes can sometimes be worth a premium.
