I wonder if 'sedalia003' is on the forum here. He collects a lot Spyderco stuff!

Wow! I'd been watching that one too. I thought Boxer had it. What a snifefest  . RARE I think. Anyone know how many of these were made?

Only 1 as far as I know of.
Wow! I wonder what it sold for in 1995? It looks like a really nice knife.

Never sold- it was a prototype. One of a kind. Some proto's were made and sent to companies to try and get them to produce a run of Q's. I have one other proto myself but didn't think it was worth that much. Would be nice to hear if sedalia frequents this board or not.
I saw this on the eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=6507737491&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT
The fellow says it has a red handle and was made without a clip. Anyone know what it really is? It's about the size of a Delica so he says. I thought only trainers are made with the red handles?

Ladybug. Certainly within an order of magnitude of Delica size. You can count the teeth and get an idea of size. Delica's have a lot more teeth.

I've got a red handled endura downstairs... frn/se and I think G-2. Not even bad condition for it's age.

Jey,
I don't have access to e-bay at work, but obviously I lost. I put my bid in before I left this morning. I figured that if someone wanted it that bad I'll settle for the pictures. As for overall value of what you have, I believe that you may already have a 1 copy proto. I was hoping to get one too, just not for $500US. Now just think how many other Q's I can buy for that much $.

Chris-
Sorry to tell you but yeah you lost. I've seen sedalia bidding before on stuff. I tried to put in another bid and all of a sudden price shot up $100.
One of these days Chris we'll have to sit down and talk about our Q's.

Just an observation here guys, judging from sedalia003's ebay habits, you better be ready to bid very high and at the last second, too, if you both want the same knife ;)
Go to his feedback history and look at all the ending times and when the winning bids were placed...judge for yourselves, but most bids seem to be in the final seconds.
Hey forum members,
Sorry if you don't like my bidding style, but since this one went down while I was work I really didn't have much choice. I don't think the minute and a half that I had to pull this up and bid would have made much difference in the end. There are occasional Spyderco's that speak to me and this was one of them. Usually I decide what the knife is worth to me and put that amount up. I've been buying these for several years (> 10) and have managed to put together a sizable collection. This Q was unique in my opinion. I have a little over 40 Q's in the collection. (Cheating a little with the five knife set plain blade and the four knife set sheepsfoot set.) Several are fairly rare, but this is the crown jewel. I really don't have much to contribute to the forum, so usually just keep quiet. I'm not one to add "me too" to the posts and usually where I could add a comment someone else has beat me to it. I am amazed at the knowledge of the rest of you. Hopefully someday I'll be able to add 2 cents worth that is really worth 2 cents. i do have individual pictures of the collection, so if anyone is looking for photos, let me know and I'll see if I can help.
Hope no one is too upset at me for this auction, but I really couldn't pass it up.

Its a free country and money talks :) Now do you have a digital camera? If not I am sure you could find real cheap on the ebayou.

Good job, Rawd. It is exciting to watch these auctions go down. I'm not a high end Q collector so fortunately I did not get sniped (this time). I don't think anyone is mad at you, maybe themselves for not bidding high enough, but not you. Welcome. Chime in anytime. Pictures are always great to see.

Hi Rawd, congrats! Think I can safely say we've kept one another honest a time or two out there. Never begrudge you the ones you beat me on, hope it's the same with you. I got shut out completely on this one, between the time I last checked the bids and plugged in mine, and the time I hit confirm with 5 seconds to go, my bid had become unacceptably low. Ah well, such is life and such are the risks of auction sniping, didn't really figure to win on that one, but had to try.

Hey Rawd-
No one's mad. A little disappointed maybe that we didn't win. We would love to see some pics of your collection. And just because someone else posted doesn't mean you can't contribute. That's the beauty of this forum, everyone has an opinion and we usually look forward to hearing about it. Congrats on the Q and enjoy.

Rawd,
No dissapointment here either. It's good you have the resources to have such a collection (At last count I think I'm at 27 or 29). I'd love to see pictures, especially if it's for ones I don't have a picture to. I now have a coors pic :D Did you guys notice the blade shape too. Not the production shape.
I'm curious to know if I may have one you don't. Any chance of a list of the ones you have?

Chris I need to take some picture for the website. I see a couple you have listed but no picture for them. Haven't seen a "list" of yours in awhile.
Rawd, I can host & link your pics in my Spyderco-list-site if you want. I've got webspace to spare :D My mailbox can handle a lot ;)

With the 5 in the PE color set counted as 5 that's 28 knives and 1 blade. I believe that they are all in my pic except for the 2 solid rescues. I slowed down last fall. I guess it's time to try again with WTT @BFC.
Jey, do you have a list?

Ok if I had read this before I left work I would post right away but since they are hanging on my wall at work I will answer that tomorrow.

I thought it was a Ladybug too. I "asked the seller a question" and he replied that it had a 3" blade and was about 4" closed. I deleted the reply when the auction was over. Oh well...

Thanks Jey. looks like I've got a way to go.
2 questions. On the monteg is the pattern similar to a mountain shapes except with slightly curved bars? (mine would be in my website pic) I've seen the mountain one with intricate cutout. Any idea if the red handled kona is one of a kind?
My Klotzli is marked jahre 150. I assumed it was the same on all of them. This thread has me back in the spirit. I updated a few links on my website and I'll work some more to get all the pictures I have linked to the page.

I got my Moteng from a Spyderco employee and it is hand written on the box "Moteng" and it looks like your picture for the Moteng. I don't know who the "Mountain" design is for or the 2nd fish design unless both fish were for Meyer. I know the feeling. After this thread and that auction I'm pumped again to start looking.
