DAYWALKER

Hey my :spyder: Family!!!
First of all, mahalo to all for the well wishes on the thread of my leaving. You guys are the best...Uh, Mongo, we'll talk elbow ripping later!
ANYWAY, as with most special occasions, boy was it hectic for a few days there on Oahu. Had a great time though...went on a few day dives with my brother in law, and the kids had a great time looking for sand crabs during the night. They also had a good laugh when I almost stepped on a Morey Eel that washed ashore! :p
As you know, I took along my Pacific PE. This knife lives up to the "hype" of being non-corrosive. I left the blade in a cup of salt water for the last three days that I was on Oahu, and absolutely nothing happenend to the blade. HOWEVER...the PE on this H1, did not last as long as my other steels. It does take an edge rather quickly, and get this, I forgot to pack my Pro-File set, and actually used a stone I found on the beach to get a using edge back. It got dulled by my brother in law cleaning out some fishes I speared and cutting the plastic and cardboard to "release" the toys I bought for the kids. All in all, I am very happy with this Pacific! Thanks Paul!
I was able to leave my Pacific to it's salt water test due to my buying a PE Dodo from a shop in the Kaimuki area. We went to this shop on the second day of the trip, but I was debating on a Dodo, SE Yellow Pacific, or a SE Scorpius. The very next morning, we went back to the shop and I liked the Yellow SE Pacific, but not the SE. Had there been a PE, I'd have gotten it for sure. I kinda regret not getting it, because it would have made a nice replacement for my SE Endura in my fanny bag due to it's near zero maintenance! Handled the Scorpius...I liked the feel of this one, but as I ran "what ifs?" in my head, I was not too comfortable with SS handles and the 50/50 choil depth. Lastly, the Dodo.
I know I am very late in joining the "Dodo party", but due to it's shape, and not having a chance to handle one prior to now, I never got one. After being able to handle one finally, I found that I can "make" the Dodo handle work for me. I think my hand is too small for this handle shape. The blade shape I am accustomed to, but I am still trying to "find" my grip on this knife. Even in the reverse grip, it feels like I am "pinching" the tail of the Dodo. BUT, like I mentioned, I can "make" this knife work for me, and I certainly appreciate the deep 50/50 choil, and grippy G10. So grippy are the handles on my Dodo, that it started to rip the threads on the pockets of my BDU pajamas! I tested this knife, both on Oahu and upon my return home last night, but I will write up the eval at a later time. OBTW, I got my brother an FRN Cricket and the last three days of my stay at the beach house, all I heard was, "Click...click...click!"
Anyway, glad to be back, missed you all, and now to catch up here!!!
God bless
