Hi all
I'm sure some of you have this ultimate piece of knife making called the Sebenza and I'd like to see some pics of a small sebbie side by side with some mainstream spydercos... to get a better idea of its size.
I'm admiring the sebenza for a long time and think more and more of getting a small model to carry.
thanks for the help :)

Like yourself, I don't have a Sebenza either, but I will sooner or later. I simply wanted to pop into your thread to wish you a Happy Birthday and many more in the years to come.

I don't have a Sebenza and perhaps I'll never have, even if I could afford one (I agree it's a good knife, just not my style). But I do love the Mnandi, it matches its name. Maybe someone can post a pic with a "regular" spydie (like the Delica or Calypso jr. ) next to a Mnandi as well.

This will show you where my priorities are -- I have a small regular Sebenza, but not a digital camera. Anyway, I have it front of me along with a Spyderco Delica and Calypso, Jr. The closed small Sebbie is anout 1/8 of an inch smaller than the Delica and Caly. Open, the blade on the delica is about 1/4" longer than the Sebbie, but the Sebbie actually has a longer cutting edge by a little less than 1/8". The Caly blade is almost exactly the same length as the Sebbie blade, but again the cutting edge on the Sebbie is longer, this time by about 3/8". The thickness of the Sebbie is about the same as the Caly, and therefore slightly thicker than the Delica, I'd say about 1/16".
I just got out my Paramilitary -- the cutting edge on the much smaller Sebbie is about the same.
Sorry about no pics :( hope this helps a little.

Thanks Mariner! :D
I offered myself a "R" and a WTC knife for this occasion
(don't have them yet though...).
KeithM, with your description and the actual size simulation on Ted's website, I got a pretty good idea, thanks a lot. :)
well if someone has a pic (even crappy, :p ) feel free to post it.

I'm with Dialex on this one. I don't doubt the Sebenza due to the cult following it has, but it just does not seem to really catch me. I don't know how else to say it. Now the Mnandi is more my sytle I suppose. Too bad my style also includes being broke! The Kopa is my pretty knife and I hardly use it because it is too nice to use. I really should get into the mentality of using the darn Kopa, I did buy it for using after all. I am not in the business of collecting, but even if I had a Mnandi I'd probably admire it for a long time and never use it.
Let's see some pictures of Spydies with Sebenzas and Mnandis!!

damn the torpedoes!
I was recently, thru a pass-around on BF able to use a Sebenza for a week.
I found it to be excellently made, & expertly designed, but  I have
found I have been spoiled by Spyderco. Whenever i had any real knife work
to do w/ the sebenza it felt chunky (as they say in the UK), oddly shaped,
just not the right tool for the job, like holding a brick. I went back to my
Delica toot sweet, & had no troubles, and haven't had a second thought
about the sebenza Maybe i'm just tuned in to my Delica, but i think its more
than that for me, the sebenza, for me, is overly strong, yes there is sucha
thing :D ,overly "Yang", go ask Lao Tzu :D
.....just like when something is too hard, it becomes to brittle.
