do you own.
In general I do not like most of their models but I do really like the griptillans.
I just got a OD D2 mini grip and a 550RT PE stonewashed.
I wish I could find out how many of the 550RT PE stone washed grips they made.It seems to be a very rare BM or at least very hard to find.
Now to find one more that I like but is getting hard to come by,the 730 PE satin.

One, a BM42, and I blame that one on Sal for keeping the Spyderfly under wraps as long as he did. :p :D

Aloha JSmith,
I had a few: Tsunami PE, Stryker PE, Monarch series "unidentified" FRN PE, a Balisong, Fecas Gamer FB, and a 555 CE. The only ones I have left are the Gamer CE and 555 CE. I like that lil' bugger...
God bless and good score!!!

I have a Mini Ambush and Mini-Pika. Mini Pika has a great deep carry clip, but it's a little on the small side for me. I have a BM550 Griptillian on order. And of course, in all fairness to this board, an Endura should be hitting my door any day now :D My Delica and Native III were getting lonely (yeah, that's it :) ) I will probably get the BM Monochrome, but will probably get either a Para Military or Manix before that.

I possess only one Benchmade Knife, a BM42 Ti obtained via trade from a friend. It's only real strong point in my eyes is the spring latch; otherwise it is basically another bali-song. I personally feel that the Cold Steel Arc Angel is a superior butterfly knife.
The Spyderfly is a bit heavy, but I like heavy... :D

Ta,

750 Pinnacle>traded
940 Osbourne>gift to my Bro
875 Sentinel>the best BM ever made...in pieces for a refurbish and cleaning
Nimravus>sold to a military friend
Wolf Cub(I think???)>traded up for the Sentinel
CQC-7>rusted for some unknown reason and I returned it...wish I still had it knowing what I know now about blades...I was young and foolish.
Auto Stryker with Ares blade>illegal in Canuckia and did not ever use it...traded for a Chinook II :D
After all that only one left, the Sentinel. A couple more long screws from BM warranty and repair and I will put it back together.

In Benchmade, I suppose I'm proudest of my Crawford Leopards. After a number of years, I've managed to collect what I believe to be all of the colors. Silver, grey, black, green, blue, red and purple. I'm told there were only 200 purple ones made up, so it's likely the rarest. I'm sure you've seen the Leopards around on Ebay and other places, but they are a classic Crawford design with drilled aluminum scales and Hitachi ATS-34 bladesteel. Not the most expensive knife (thankfully), but unique.
I've also spent some time trying to collect the Leopard Cubs, but only got as far as the red, silver and black .. I let them go during one of my last sales ... Just too hard to come by to make a collection.
Leopard Cub...thats what I meant :D
Right now, I just have one, a 530. I used to have a 806D2, as well, but I traded it off for another Military. :D

Mini Stryker, its the one that turned me to the Delica. Far beter cutting tool that is.
I don't own one and I don't think I've ever seen one? Would this BM 42 make a good "Beater"?

...I used to have a 806D2, as well, but I traded it off for another Military. :DHmmm... the beginning of a trend among :spyder: lovers. Couldn't get use to the elliptical Spydie hole  . Well, I'm going to hold onto my 806 for a while yet since I just purchased the diamond triangles for my Sharpmaker so that I could sharpen the darn thing myself :D .

I don't own one and I don't think I've ever seen one? Would this BM 42 make a good "Beater"?It's a sturdy and well built balisong and both the blade pivots and stop pins are screw construction, so I would imagine it can be rebuilt if you do wear it out flipping it. Blade is over 4" making carry in a lot of areas illegal, or at least problematic.
I just bought my first Benchmade Folder and my first Tanto blade in one go - a Griptillian 553. Too early to comment. But, I can commenton the BM140 Nimravus in 154cm and it is a great knife.

i have an older AFCK with a linerlock and a spyderhole... aka, the "bizarro spydie."
also have a 921S osborne... recently gained in trade for coffee... :D ;)
used to have a strangely-sized boguszewski i bought for $60... last month, i converted it into a manix, a numbered atlantic salt, AND a leatherman squirt. (and let me tell you... NOTHING beats the feeling of turning a benchmade into a couple spydies!)

I just got my 555 Mini Grip today. 2 things I'm not wild about. 1 - my fat thumb doesn't fit into that beveled oblong shaped hole as well as it does on the :spyder: 14mm round hole, it keeps slipping over the hole when I try to open it and 2 - no place for my pinky finger to rest on the grip like on my Spydies, there's a finger shelf on those for it to rest on.
I do like the Axis lock a lot and quality seems to be up there. Haven't used it yet though

Ummm let's see.
BM42 t-latch, BM42s t-latch, BM42c t-latch, BM42a t-latch, BM42 latchless custom w/bead blasted handles polished blade and aftermarket pivot hardware. oh, and a custom leather quick draw sheath. ok, ok. a couple of em, but they fit all the 4X models. where was I? um a BM41ss, BM42ss, BM42ssc, mint BM44, 44s, 45, and 48 w/hidden pins + SS handles. A BM47a and BM47. Some Bastard stole my only BM46b w/custom sheath from my truck along with several other knives I care not to talk about. :( Original BM35, and the forum limited remake w/torx pivots. Oh ya, 2 of those. BM31 modified w/bead blasting and polishing. prototype BM31, prototype BM40 trainer. BM samson weehawk custom bali-song, Not including the pre-benchmade stuff from Pacific Cutlery Co. {PCC} or Bali-Song Inc. mini stryker auto, BM2550, some BM fixed blade skinner I forgot the name of. an axis lock folder my brother gave me I do not know the name of either. Just picked up another BM42 at the OKCA show in Oregon a couple weeks ago. It has a spring latch, modified by Ike, i think he took a torch to the Ti handles to get the really cool rainbow pattern. He also bead blasted the blade and ground finger grooves on the inside of the bite handle for better grip. EXCELLENT FIND. Thanks Ike, and Duane from EDC for that one. I'll try and list the rest after work today. Wait till you folks see my double edged spyderfly w/damascus blade steel and polished handles. Coming soon.

My first benchmade was an Emerson design 975, then I got a large boguszewski Spike model, a 3 inch bali, and a Mini Reflex. My last BM was the AFCK. Good design, but the quality on that piece was dismal, cracked spacer, chamfered thumb hole, fat edge grinds. The minute I learned how to sharpen a knife, is when I jumped ship. The AFCK did put me onto a Spyderco Military, and I never looked back. Something about that hole in the blade :D .The edge geometry in all of my BMs was simply not what I wanted in a knife. I still think they make nice 'looking' designs, but Spydies are better users.

I have aprox 35 Benchmades , and about 9 Spidies . I also have 5 Microtechs , and 4 CRK's . Each company has its own strengths and weaknesses . If I were to refine it down to only two companies it would be Strider and Chris Reeves .

I purchased a BM 670 Apparition locally a couple of weeks ago to join the 806. It's fairly new offering from BM I think, and was an impulse purchase on my part. I wanted to get a BM assisted opener before they became prohibited in Canada which is just a matter of time IMHO. In any event, it comes equipped with something called an Optimizer opener enhancemment which can be easily uninstalled should it attain prohibited status. Really nice knife in 154CM with a good solid feel to it.

I'm a Spyderco fan and user first, but I like Benchmade. Aside from the Crawfords I mentioned earlier, the axis lock Benchies are very refined and Benchmade also makes some of the best automatic knives in the business.
One of the highlights of last summer's vacation was walking into a N. Carolina pawnshop and finding one of the big auto Benchies with an unused blade (clip had a little wear, but not much) ... that I walked out with for about $32.50. I just got lucky ...
I also managed to snag the first & last Police Knife take off's that Benchmade did (the 800 & 806). These 2 capture the evolution of the design that starts with the Spydie hole 800 (box has a sticker with credit / permissions from Spyderco) to the eliptical hole axis lock 806. Great knives with blades that almost open on command.
