Can someone please tell me how to explain to my mom why I need so many Spyderco's?

Thanks

Ms. Clipiteer, please sit down. The reason why your son needs so many Spydercos is because you weaned him too early. The combination of separation anxiety with his need to be his own man manifests itself in the need to acquire more and more Spyderco brand knives. In essence, the Spydercos represent his need for autonomy, his desire to "cut the cord" so to speak, and nothing cuts through cord better than Spyderco's patented two stage serrations. You can best help him get through this time buy...I mean, by helping him to acquire all of the Spyderco cutlery line.

If clipiteer happens to be of the female persuasion, then it's just a clear case of p***s envy.

clipiteer, you could answer her question with a question of you own.

Just ask her why she owns all that cosmetic items <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> as she probably could do with just a couple of those....

Happy persuading!

Thanks for the help, dePaul. BTW, Sheeple, I do NOT happen to be of the female persuasion.

Clipiteer -- you could also suggest to your mother kind of a maturity theme. Like the single-minded pursuit of collection of classy objects is a purely ADULT sort of behavior. Like you've given up cards and/or comics, etc (marbles too when I was a kid) and you are forming a life-long hobby that is educational. Kind of try to skip over the fun parts.

Make yourself and one or another of your Spydercos available to assist your Mom with every conceivable cutting chore she might have facing her. Volunteer before she asks! However effusive her thanks, just insist all you want to do is help her.

WHen this or another scheme works, and she is sold on the notion, be sure to go to a veyr private place to ROFLYAO. Do not let her get the slightest hint of any manipulation on your part.

Okay here's an idea from the 'female
persuasion' Easy.....ask her what would she rather have you colllect? Don't fall for the answer &quot;stamps or coins&quot;. Tell her you could have an unhealthy interest in diseases, live venomous creatures, crazy women, and/or mind altering/enhancing substances.

Remember there are always &quot;worse&quot; things to collect!!

Hey Mom, collecting Spyderco products is a lesson in quality, performance, longevity, simplicity and I get to learn great concepts and responsible attitudes from the many intelligent Spyderco forum visitors.
