Since the Spyderco Story is discontinued and also kind of expensive, how about selling it as an e-book. With no printing costs, it could be much less expensive and allow more people access. I realize it would have it's own expence in storing it and would probably require it's own server, but the book is likely already saved somewhere as a file. It could be made into an e-book fairly easily, I would think. Can anyone expand on this a bit?
Another possibility is to release it as an e-book on a DVD or a cd set.
What are the chances?

Great idea, Rastus ! Count me in for an online copy. It should not take up too much server space, except for the pics and diagrams. pdf format would be ideal, as everyone has Adobe Reader or Acrobat. How about it, Spyderco ?

Just scratch up a few pennies and go ahead and get the book. You will be glad you did. I wouldn't trade mine for anything. I just wish they would write a sequel to it. Keep your eye out on Ebay. I got mine there about 9 months ago for $22. Also you might want to check out some of those "out of print" book companies. You can find out the ones that might have it through your local Barnes & Noble store. GOOD LUCK :) :spyder:

Locally, this book sells for R850-00 ! This is about $136 !!! Postage from the USA or UK would be around $30, besides the cost of the book ...and there is the very real risk of postal loss. Courier would be a safe bet, but the cost would be astronomical. Insurance is almost impossible from this side. I once couriered ONE sheet of fax paper to the UK at a cost of around $16.

So the prospect of an online :spyder: book is even more appealing. Even if it costs about $30. I buy a lot of e-books from Audible and e-Reader, and they are quite acceptable. In any case, we are headed (hopefully) for a paperless society!

Overhere the book is pretty expensive so I would be glad with an E-book copie.

Wow! I guess you guys got a point. I keep forgetting that a great deal of you guys/gals are from overseas. And that's one part of the Forum I really appreciate/enjoy is the input from folks around the globe. Your point is very well taken. All things considered there is a very valid point for an "e-book" of the Spyderco Story. Wow I bet you all pay a "king's ransom" for Spyderco knives too I bet? :) :spyder:

I would like a copy of the Spyderco Story in pdf and while we're at it I would like a copy of all the older catalogues in pdf as well. Then I would like a Spyderco Repair kit with clips, screws, pivot pins etc. and then...

I like the idea of the older catalogs being availabe on .pdf ! I have always felt that the :spyder: site should have a simple list with pics, in chrono order, of ALL types ever made. I have seen a good listing around, but it is far from complete.
Paper is great, but is getting very $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ !

The catch here would be, Soon as someone payed for it, downloaded and read it they could easy pass it off to anyone they want or as many as they want for free, then the trouble Spyderco went through with the book would become worthless. :(
