I have been able to handle some of the larger knives at my local dealers - these include the Endura, the Police, and the Starmate.

It seemed as thought the Endura was easiest to open, followed by the Starmate, and then the Police. However, I did not find the Starmate and the Police to be particularly easy.

I think my hand size would be characterized as average; additionally, the Starmate and Police were tested at one dealer, while the Endura was at another dealer.

My question is - are the Starmate and Police models generally more difficult to open, or is it more likely that the dealer had these sitting around for a long while and these were difficult to open due to lack of maintenance?

Thanks,

Matthew

The starmate should open the easiest because of the lnerlock. Sometimes knives need to be broken in and sometimes they stay stiff. I've had many Enduras and the FRN ones can be stiff and they will usually stay that way. My starmate is one of the smoothest opening knives I've ever owned. I've never had a police model be stiff. You might have run across some that are not the norm.

Dude,
Some of the knives need to be worn in... I had a tough time with some of my FRN-handled Spydies till they were broken in! <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Keep in mind that the Starmate and Police both have adjustable pivots, so it's possible that they were pre-adjusted for someone elses resistance level. So this means you could adjust the pivots on either of these when you purchase them to fit your tolerances. The Enduras resistance is dictated mostly by 'wearing in'(nothing is really tweekable/adjustable).
