I have been a Spyderco collector for about 7 to 8 years or so. I have been a fanatic/aficionado, obsessed with, can't get enough of the little arachnid for about 3 years now :D Through trades, ebay, wheeling & dealing I have come up with 2 Spyderenchs. I must humble myself and admit I am somewhat at a disadvantage because there is a lot I admittedly don't know about this little marvel. I know that whoever engineered this fine tool probably had dozens if not hundreds of uses in mind.
Could someone point me in the right direction for some valid information. I want to know as much about the Spyderench as I can find. Does anyone know of any websites, links, official Spyderco instruction sheets, Forum threads of the past or any viable source for me to learn more about this most unique of multi-tools. I would rather ask a dumb question and learn the right way as to act like I know something that I don't. An old machinist told me a long time ago "If nothing else works, try following directions". I welcome any feedback, help or constructive criticism about the wrench with Spydie on it :) :spyder:

As a 'new' collector, I can vouch that the silence your question is experiencing is merely indicative of its viewers' lack of knowledge regarding an appropriate answer...
I have not gathered the courage to acquire one of these gems yet; and while I value it as a collector, it don't think I would ever replace my leathermen--yes, men not man--with it due to the price differences. If I ever need more tools, I'll just get them from my shop.
Sorry about the lack of meaningful info and other replies, but it almost seems that the spydiewrench isn't targeted toward me...maybe others shamefully agree, as it actually is a popular item these days...and years I guess ;)

Yes this is ridiculous  !!! I can't believe that I ask a question about Spyderco's Spyderench and I get virtually no replys what so ever except one brother who tried his best :( . Somebody here in Spyderland knows about this Spyderench. I would appreciate all of the help that I can get. With all that I have learned here on this great Forum I just can't accept the fact that no one knows anything about the Spyderench. There has to be some magazine articles, websites, literature from Spyderco or something :o .
Please don't get me wrong I am not bitter or mad at anyone :) . I am actually amazed that I have apparently stumped everybody  . If that is the case then that is the first time I have never gotten any valid information on such a classic Spyderco item. GOD Bless you all. BUT help me out would you please :D ?

JD Spydo, try http://www.physics.mun.ca/~sstamp/knives/SpydeRench.html for some info. Maybe not all you need, but interesting all the same.

Hi JD,
The January 2001 issue of Tactical Knives has a good article on the Spyderwrench. It was the idea of an engineer by the Martin Beck. He designed it so he wouldn't have to carry a full tool belt all the time.
I don't know if you can get back issues of TK or not.
As for instructions, mine came with them in the box with the tool. Maybe someone at W&R could get you a set of them.
Also, IIRC, the dealer video had a short segment on the 'wrench.
If you can't find the article or the instructions, e-mail me and i will copy them for you.
Hope this helps,
Bruceter

I have one that I got off ebay that came with an instruction sheet but no box. To me, it's a pretty straightforward tool along the lines of a leatherman but with a cooler gadget factor to it. Not sure what other uses you might have in mind for it. I actually used it to disassemble a rocking chair. It worked well but using the screwdiver was hard since it was difficult to get good torque with such a small handle. Still a beautifully made tool and a big collectors item, the ones on the bay regularly go to $150 and I've seen one make it to $200.00.

I pulled out my copy of The Spyderco Story, went to pages 206, 207 & 208 to find reference to the SpydeRench. Full detail of specs, photo in different configurations and short listing of it's features.
If you don't already have the book, you should (as a Spydie collector) acquire it soon.

Hawkbill I do indeed have that Spyderco Story book. Please excuse me while I wipe the egg off of my face :o . Talk about dumber than dumb ( referring to me) :o . You know when I wrote the thread I had thought in the back of my head about the Spyderco Story book but I honestly thought that the Spyderench might just be too new to even be in the book  . In the back of my mind I am thinking..... "If nothing else works try following directions". Sometimes what you are looking for is in the most obvious place. Well with what you have offered and what Bruceter has offered I am off to a good start. OK I will go sit in the corner for 15 minutes with my cone-shaped hat on :D . I guess it's better that I just go ahead and punish myself that way I can be easy on myself too :D . Oh what a day!!! JD over & out for now

G'day JD
I got a Spyderwrench on the cheap a couple of years ago now (actually my first spyderco 'knife') and it was the last one left so it didn't have a box or any instruction sheet. I emailed spyderco and asked how I could go about getting the instruction sheet for it and about 2 weeks later one arrived in the mail for me down here in Australia!
You might want to email customer service and see if they have an instruction sheet that they could post to you, if they don't I'll see if I can find mine, scan it and email it to you if you like.
The spyderwrench is to blame for the other 10 or so spydies I now own........

Thank you very much Ferreter :) . Your efforts are highly appreciated. I just know that there are a myriad of uses for that tool. I just want to utilize it to it's fullest potential. I have 2 of them because I am a firm believer in "back up units". That's why I have 6 big Dyads and 5 Massad Ayoob folders. There are just some things in life that are of the utmost of importance :D . JD :spyder: 'O
