I have been saveing for Blade, got a late start because I did not think I was going to get to go.Anyway I have a little cash saved and I go to a gun show today, traded into a Marlin SS 45-70 guide gun but back on topic,I ran across a dealer that lives about 20 miles from me that had a Santa Fe Stone Works Dino bone Kiwi with a really nice pattern in the scales and best of all he said he would sell it for 100.00 out the door.
So do I buy it and start over saveing for Blade?I am thinking I would be nuts to let it slip by at that price.

I think you are right. The guy didn't know what he had.He had 2 Santa Fe Leeks beside it and was asking 135.00 each for them.He thought they were done by Yellowhorse.

A good find! :D

But i'm sorry, I know this is the :spyder: forum, but how about a little more on the Guide Gun! I'm going nuts at the moment trying to find an 1894 P (basically a .44 mag Guide Gun!) in the UK. I know there are some around, but man are they elusive!

I shot an unported 45-70 with some stout reloads, belonging to a fella at the range. Certainly made the fillings rattle!

God bless,

Simon.

This one is a 1895 GS non ported.I had been looking for a 45-70 in stainless for a while but there are not many around.I have not fired one of the guide guns yet but the long barrel Marlin 45-70 of my dads has more of a push than a kick.About the same as a 20 ga shotgun.I hope this one is as accurate as the long barrel.

Nice looking Kiwi. Good finds on the knife and the Guide Gun.

I had a customer who bought an American Derringer 45-70 under a .410. This guy would tackle anything, but fired the 45-70 once and needless to say, this beast went back in the box. The damn bullet was almost protruding out the muzzle, the bbl was only as long as the cartridge.:D

I have seen those Derringers.I wouldn't think a 410 wouldn't feel to good either.
I have heard that a .410 can be fired in a 45-70.

Jeff, that's about the prettiest piece of dino bone I've ever seen. Nice looking 45/70 too, great figure in the stock. Haven't shot anything in that caliber in many a moon.

Great scores there the knife was a no brainer vs blade.
I have been trying to convince the wifey to let pick-up a second gun, and when she finaly sucombs it will be the Cowboy version of the Marlin 45-70 (http://www.marlinfirearms.com/firearms/leverActionCB_rifles/1895CB.htm). I like the extra length and the 9 round capacity. That and a BFR in 45-70 (http://www.magnumresearch.com/Expand.asp?ProductCode=BFR45-707) to go in the holster!

If you like the cowboy Marlins try to find one of the LE models they came out with a couple years ago. They had a flip up long range rear sight with the barrel being hex half way and round the other half.
Thanks all, still can't belive I finnally got one of those great deals that you allways hear of others getting.
