Like an idiot, I attempted to cut (and did actually) what I think was a scotch brite pad. I thought it was just some plastic weave, and was surprised at it's toughness. This was done to carve out a manageable sized piece of material with which to clean the rods of my Sharpmaker yesterday.

Anyway, the razor sharp AUS-8 blade of my Calypso Jr. sailed right through the tough material but afterwords I realized that the beautiful blade's finish was micro scratched from top to bottom where the material was cut and rubbed on the sides of the blade.

How do I polish the blade to hopefully restore it's original gleam, it's beautiful smooth shine? There must be a way, oh there simply must!

Distressed, Jeff/1911.

About a year ago, I refinished my badly scratched (deep enough to catch your fingernail on) CF Dragonfly.

Start with 600 grit sandpaper on a sanding block until the scratches are gone. Then work your way through progressively finer grits until you're satisified with the finish.

On the other hand, my Darrel Ralph Apogee has a pretty big scratch on the blade, and a small one on the handle. Scratches just don't bother me like they did when the CF Dragonfly was my nicest knife.

dsvirsky - I am not too broken up about the scratches on my Calypso Jr. either although if possible, I would like to restore it's original fine finish. I'll try your suggestion beginning with a finer grit, as my scratches are just superficial. Thanks for your help, Jeff/1911.
