is the metal the lock made from the same as the blade? eg:if the blade is VG-10 is the lock VG-10?

As a rule, no. The exception to this is that the H-1 knives have H1 locks.

Then wath is the most common steel for the Lockback knives ?
420? I don't know - in carbon knives I would use O-1.

IIRC the steel parts and handles of the Spyderco knives are made out of A6.

I read somewhere that all the components of the lock has the same hardness and attitude toward wear because it has to adjust and adapt the parts through years of wear...

Well the blade and the lockbar are, I believe, different hardness. I think if the lockbar were as hard as the blade, it would be too prone to crack under impacts on the blade and the failure would be a brittle fracture, giving rather suddenly. I would think that you would want a ductile fracture, so that you can see the failure coming.
