Hi everyone!
I am about to purchase my first Spyderco knife! I am 11 years old and I collect knives. I looked on the internet at the Delica 2 knife and liked the looks of it. I want the opinion of all of you guys [and girls]. Is it a good knife to buy for an 11 year old and a knife collector? Is it good quality?

My first knife from spyderco was a Delica. I personally bought it myself because I liked the "standard knife" look. Nothing too fancy.
I have since owned it for close to 2 yrs, and haven't as much as scratched the blade. I bought Plain Edge, FRN, as it seemed to be the easiest to maintain. I had been sharpening knives since I could walk(or so it seems) and can get shaving sharp with a benchstone.
I would recomend it as a starter into the world of Spyderco, as it has treated me well. I have since added 2 more to my Spydie family. I have loved them since I was first bitten.
Another couple options along this same route are:
Native
Calypso Jr(Thicker belly)
Harpy
I myself will be buying a harpy, a native and a chinook soon to add to my collection. I hope you enjoy your soon to be aquired knife, and that it serves you as well as ours have served us.
I would even get this for a childs first knife, and plan to do this with my sisters child in about 10yrs when she is old enough to apprecaite it.

Hey Knife Dude! Welcome to the forum! Just got thru reading Sal's thread on where people are from. Maybe we should think about one for ages. (Afraid I have a couple years on you.)
I tend to think that your parent(s) should maybe consulted a bit on this purchase. But, assuming approval, I think it would be an excellent choice for you. Anything much bigger, and you might automatically be viewed as a maniacal juvenile delinquent. The Delica has a long and proud history, and is a very good knife. I intend to get one someday! Just got 2 Spydies in today's mail, and had one come in yesterday. I would recommend that you go for a plain edge, or no more serrations than a 50/50 or 60/40, however they come. Many perceive serrations to be evil.
Nice to have you join us. Keep buying those Spydies!
