I have both the Carbon Fiber and G-10 Model Police knives and they are both Super. They are both however getting somewhat hard to find. But if watch EBay, Bladeforums or any other such source they do show up from time to time. NO mine are not for sale. GOOD Luck :)

As stated Get whatever is available first...I personally like the G10 better than the Carbon Fiber especially if you plan to use it a lot. I have both. I find the G10 to be more durable though the Carbon Fiber is nicer looking... I believe Carbon Fiber is much more easily marred by accident...Whatever you choose both handle materials are very nice...I guess it's a matter of personal preference...Doc

If for a collection go for both, if buying for carry get the G-10. better grip and holds it's looks longer than a shiny CF knife will. IMO

i'd just like to have a police knife that doesn't say "police." that and that alone is the ONLY thing that has stopped me from buying that knife, in any incarnation!

Now I will have to say a big AMEN to what the brother said about the G-10 Police being a superior user knife. I can personally attest to that because this last winter I got 2 G-10 Harpys. It is a totally different knife with that G-10 handle. I can't for the life of me figure out why the G-10 Police or G-10 Harpy too as far as that goes didn't take off like a pair of rockets on the sales charts. AS I get a lot of the older varieties of some of the Spyderco classics I am perplexed to say the least why some of the other handle materials didn't go over any better than they did.
Also just recently I got a G-10 Spyderco "Standard" model from a trade with a good Spyder brother. I never ever liked the Standard very much. Trust me in G-10 it is a completely different knife. The change was much for the better I might add. GOD Bless the Great Spyder Factory. JD :spyder: O

If you are buying one to use, prefer clipped carry, and decide to go with G10, then make sure you get one of the later, single liner versions. The fine threads needed for clip screws do not hold up well in G10. On the other hand, if you want the lightest knife possible, and plan to use a holster or carry loose in the pocket, then try to find the earlier unlined G10 version, as it is noticably lighter than the others. The Carbon Fiber version is a bit on the "slick" side out of the box, but it has the advantage of VG10 and, for a carry piece, the CF can be "roughed up" a bit to provide better traction.

Hi,
I have 2 Harpy's; one older model ATS55/G10 and the new one VG10/SS. I prefer the G10 over the SS because of it's grip and looks(fittings, finish)

Hi There
G10, flat ground blade, Boye Dent, the best Police model ever!!!!( until they make that Blue 25th Anniversary one). CF if you're a lefty, but they are very slippery.

"I can't for the life of me figure out why the G-10 Police or G-10 Harpy too as far as that goes didn't take off like a pair of rockets on the sales charts."
Speaking for the G-10 Harpy, cost was beyond what most knife buyers wanted to spend (Spyderco was way ahead of the curve in regard to making folding knives near the $90 retail price back then...folks didn't think they should have to spend that much or more when a dimestore knife would make-do). Now more people appreciate the finer materials and features, and DO pay more for folders. Timing, it seems, is critical.
