About three weeks ago, I got a green jester photon combo for my girlfriend. She had never owned a single knife in her life, this was her first knife ever. How cool for it to be a spydie. I engraved her name on it very small. Within 24 hours she accidentally stabbed herself in the thigh and it went about an inch inside her. It was on her keychain, which, afterwards, we decided, wasn't the best place for a knife. She didn't even know it happened. It was sharp enough out da box to not cause any pain. I noticed a lot of blood dripping down her leg, and I exclaimed, "Oh my god!" It was a nasty hole that looked very deep. There was a helluva lotta blood. I took her to the emergency room and sat with her while the doc sewed her up. Four stitches, and now a big scar. She's tatooed with the soul of a Jester. It has healed rather nicely since then. I cut the stitches out of her myself, I have never done that before.
I am superstitious, I think engraving her name on it had something to do with it, "I have a knife with your name on it."
I am glad to say this did not turn her off to the knife. She carries it daily and loves it. She now carries it in her pocket; I wish I would've gotten her a spydie with a pocket clip instead. I should have taken pics sooner, but I just now decided I should tell the world. (Engraved name out of focus to protect her identity) Check it out:

I wouldn't put too much stock in your superstition, she was untrained and :spyder: s are very snicker-snack sharp. I still cut myself on my :spyder:s and I was raised to knife safety, they are just so sharp!
Ahh spyder bites, you never forget your first. :)
Good to hear she recovered well and was not put off by the spydie even though she was bitten by it.

Glad it's healing well and it's not put her off the knife. I don't really understand how it could have happened because of it being on a keyring. A one in a million occurence I expect.

Can you describe a "scalpel grip" please?

Can you describe a "scalpel grip" please?
a scalpel grip is akin to a pencil grip with little blade foward for maximum cutting control.

Instead of the "You're gonna need 'em !" Band Aid dispenser, perhaps NGK would consider changing to a small kit containing disinfectant, suture and a D.I.Y. tetanus shot !
Hope the Jester did not cut any of the main cables !
Cheers

Here's what happens when you drop a military on your leg while your sitting down.
I didn't feel it either till I felt something dripping down my leg. I put my knives away when I drink now....
Yes I feel stupid...

I think you should wait before giving her a Civilian.
Call me crazy but as soon as a knife tastes blood, I swear the thing gets hungry for it. There have been a few knives that I've actually gotten rid of once they clipped me. I know, I know, I sound ridiculous, but I wonder if anyone out there can corroborate? Ever seen the movie Christine? Spydercos...come to life, and they're hungry for bloooood!

p.s. I am actually being serious. Maybe it's just me.

Guys... Guys and Gals...YOU ARE NOT POSE TO DROP KNIVES ON YOUR BODY PARTS...Nor is it OK to stab yourself when doing something you know you shouldn't be doing with your knife...(I'm guilty of that one)...and a little voice goes off in your head that says..."you know better then that... you could get hurt doing it that way" but do we listen  ...Doc

Heh, it's never m.b.c. drills that cut me, then I'm too aware and in the moment. It's opening and closing the knives while watching "adult swim" or other stupidity on tv at night that always gets me bleeding.

I didn't go to the hospital. It was about 11 at night and I was out at the lake. It sealed up really quick. It's been 3 weeks now and it's almost all the way healed. No signs of infection or anything.
