got my meercat today

there was some talk of the meercat here a couple of weeks ago so i cracked & got one, here's what i think:

cute!! :D really lovely knife, very beautiful, a lot smaller than i expected, the phantom lock is sweet but i don't think it'll hold up for more than light use, seems like it's easy to disengage by mistake but i'll need more time to check it out.
all in all, it's not as functional as an EDC as other designs but it's good for regular tasks like opening mail, cutting string or peeling an apple. the big plus is that it's a real people friendly (NKP especially).
not much else to review, typical spyderco quality in & out :p

I don't think it will unlock by accident on you, but I do agree with you on the chores you can expect to do with it. It's not a big blade, by any strech. So I don't think people who enjoy toting big knives for an EDC will use this for a replacement.

You know what...how can anyone afford not to buy one of there? 20 bucks and if your lucky like I was a few times, the seller will pick up the shipping costs. 20 bucks for a Spyderco, can't beat that.

I loved and still do mine. And never did the lock disengaged on me, even after hard use. And after a year or so, it is smoother than ever. It really is a great design, maybe a little bit ahead of its time... Like they say, it's gonna be a collector item...

I have three of the little Meercats at home right now; drop point PE, drop point SE and reverse-S SE. They are probably the best deal going on a small knife of *any* kind right now.

mine is the drop point PE, i got it for $24 (internastional shipping included).
no arguement that this is just about the best bang for the buck you can find!
but i doubt it would become a collectors item as they seem to be out on e-bay in huge numbers. i could be wrong though :p
