View Full Version : Help, I need a CF Dragonfly

As I mentioned in another thread, I recently got to handle a steel Dragonfly for the first time. I am soooo impressed with this knife. It seems to fit my hand better than the Navigator, which I found surprising, and I love the thin flat ground blade with it's fine point. This seems to me to be the ideal "gentleman's" folder. However there are a couple of things I don't like. Firstly, because it is tip-up, there is too much shiny metal visible to attract attention. The other thing I don't like is that the one I handled isn't mine, it was a gift from some very special people to a friend of mine . I'm now really kicking myself for not grabbing one of the carbon fibre Dragonflies when they were about, especially when BF had them on closeout. So I'm just hoping that there might be someone out there with a plain edge CF Dragonfly that they would be willing to part with for a price that won't cause me to sell any of my children into slavery . Please.

Hi Clay,

One thing I should point out in case you don't know is that the CF Dragonfly is tip-down. This is very strange since the FRN and steel Dragonflies are both tip-up. I too would have bought one except for this.

Clay- I don't know if they still have any, but when I ordered one a few months ago they had several. They've updated their website, and the CF is no longer listed. But I can tell you I got one from them, decided I didn't like the tip-down feature, so I auctioned it off on ebay not too long ago.

Anyway, you might want to call them and see if they've still got any left.

Good luck!

Michael,

Thanks for the tip, I'll send them an email to see if they still have any. IIRC when I checked there a while back they only had serrated and I'm after a plain blade.

Carlos, yes I realise that they are tip-down. I believe I recall Sal saying that it was because he thought the CF versions would be more likely to be used as a money clip. I'm actually tending more towards tip-down these days only because all my favourite knives are that way (Calypso, Centofante, Military, Navigator) and I'm getting more used to it. BTW, congratulations, I notice you've been officially labelled a trouble maker . Maybe we should ask for a badge or a special T-shirt .

They do not even have a webpage... just give them a call if you want to( a little long distance though...)

I have Frank's wife's email, and will find out if you can send to that one for you.

Hope this helps.

Thank you all for your help. I've managed to track down a mint CF Dragonfly on the "For Sale" forum at BladeForums. This will be my "Clayton's knife, the knife I carry when I'm not carrying a knife" . That statement won't mean anything unless you've seen ads. for a non-alcoholic drink called "Clayton's Tonic, the drink you have when you're not having a drink." Having the name Clayton means that I've been the butt of lots of jokes like this over the years, some of my students even suggesting (somewhat unkindly) that I'm the teacher you have when you're not having a teacher.

Thanks again,
Clay

Hi Clay,

We need a "trouble makers" secret handshake.

How about an official troublemakers' signature line .
